A 45-year-old woman, who was shifted from Umaid Hospital to M.G. Hospital — the medical centres in the city where 15 women died last month after developing serious post-delivery complications — died on Tuesday.

“Geeta Devi was admitted to Umaid Hospital on January 10 and operated upon for a gynaecological problem. She suffered a cardiac arrest the next day, and was admitted to the intensive care unit of M.G. Hospital on January 12 when she slipped into a coma. She had been on ventilator since then,” M.G. Hospital Superintendent Arvind Mathur said.

Dr. Mathur said this had no relation to the death of the 15 women after being administered the contaminated IV fluid in the two hospitals.

Fifteen women died in the last fortnight of February in the two hospitals after developing post-delivery complications, resulting in profuse bleeding allegedly due to the contaminated drip. — PTI
