According to sources, a police notice was sent to the owner of the site on January 11. The notice stated that in survey no. 35/2 in Kariyammana Agrahara near Bellandur Lake, there were illegal sheds and possible Bangladeshis present.

Bengaluru: Lalitha hails from Raichur and Karanna from Koppal in Karnataka. They stand in front of us showing their Aadhaar Cards demanding to know why their makeshift homes have been demolished by the Bengaluru Police. On Sunday, it is alleged that police in plainclothes swooped down with JCBs and began to demolish their homes while they were away at work.

Many of them rushed back and showed the police their identification papers. The people from Assam showed their NRC certificates, the people from Karnataka turned up with their Aadhaar Cards and likewise, people from different parts of India came with their documents to establish their citizenship.

They have alleged that the police did not listen to them and went about demolishing their homes.
