He also demanded that a probe by a Central agency be set up into the charges of diversion of funds.<br /><br />Talking to mediapersons on Friday, Dixit alleged that &quot;the state government, in a well-calculated move, is trying to cover the corruption trail in Sonbhadra, which is alarming&quot;. The funds must be withheld till the time the government makes a sincere effort to nail the guilty, his communication to the Ministry of Rural Development maintained.<br /><br />Earlier, in a letter addressed to secretary, rural development, B K Sinha, Dixit had claimed that during 2009-2010, Rs 204 crore were spent under the&nbsp; MGNREGS in Sonbhadra. However, during his tour, he discovered that the real amount spent in the district was only Rs 100 crore. The bloated figures were a bid by the local officials to cover up the corrupt practices adopted, including fake entry into job cards. Moreover, the state government failed to monitor the development works in Sonbhadra for over two years, which Dixit alleged hinted at &quot;a wilful collusion''.<br /><br />After this report was submitted by Dixit to the Centre, the state government had retaliated with levelling charges of extortion against him. However, the charges were found to be too frivolous by the inquiry officer Vinod Shankar Chaube. Chaube had instead raised doubts over the role of top officials in the state MGNREGS.<br /><br /></div>

                            <div align="justify">Member, Central Employment Guarantee Council, Sanjay Dixit has asked the Centre to stop release of MGNREGS funds to district Sonbhadra. He also demanded that a probe by a Central agency be set up into the charges of diversion of funds.<br /><br />Talking to mediapersons on Friday, Dixit alleged that &quot;the state government, in a well-calculated move, is trying to cover the corruption trail in Sonbhadra, which is alarming&quot;. The funds must be withheld till the time the government makes a sincere effort to nail the guilty, his communication to the Ministry of Rural Development maintained.<br /><br />Earlier, in a letter addressed to secretary, rural development, B K Sinha, Dixit had claimed that during 2009-2010, Rs 204 crore were spent under the&nbsp; MGNREGS in Sonbhadra. However, during his tour, he discovered that the real amount spent in the district was only Rs 100 crore. The bloated figures were a bid by the local officials to cover up the corrupt practices adopted, including fake entry into job cards. Moreover, the state government failed to monitor the development works in Sonbhadra for over two years, which Dixit alleged hinted at &quot;a wilful collusion''.<br /><br />After this report was submitted by Dixit to the Centre, the state government had retaliated with levelling charges of extortion against him. However, the charges were found to be too frivolous by the inquiry officer Vinod Shankar Chaube. Chaube had instead raised doubts over the role of top officials in the state MGNREGS.<br /><br /></div>

                            <div align="justify">Member, Central Employment Guarantee Council, Sanjay Dixit has asked the Centre to stop release of MGNREGS funds to district Sonbhadra. He also demanded that a probe by a Central agency be set up into the charges of diversion of funds.<br /><br />Talking to mediapersons on Friday, Dixit alleged that &quot;the state government, in a well-calculated move, is trying to cover the corruption trail in Sonbhadra, which is alarming&quot;. The funds must be withheld till the time the government makes a sincere effort to nail the guilty, his communication to the Ministry of Rural Development maintained.<br /><br />Earlier, in a letter addressed to secretary, rural development, B K Sinha, Dixit had claimed that during 2009-2010, Rs 204 crore were spent under the&nbsp; MGNREGS in Sonbhadra. However, during his tour, he discovered that the real amount spent in the district was only Rs 100 crore. The bloated figures were a bid by the local officials to cover up the corrupt practices adopted, including fake entry into job cards. Moreover, the state government failed to monitor the development works in Sonbhadra for over two years, which Dixit alleged hinted at &quot;a wilful collusion''.<br /><br />After this report was submitted by Dixit to the Centre, the state government had retaliated with levelling charges of extortion against him. However, the charges were found to be too frivolous by the inquiry officer Vinod Shankar Chaube. Chaube had instead raised doubts over the role of top officials in the state MGNREGS.<br /><br /></div>

'Block MGNREGS funds for Sonbhadra, set up probe'

Member, Central Employment Guarantee Council, Sanjay Dixit has asked the Centre to stop release of MGNREGS funds to district Sonbhadra. He also demanded that a probe by a Central agency be set up into the charges of diversion of funds. Talking to mediapersons on Friday, Dixit alleged that "the state government, in a well-calculated move, is trying to cover the corruption trail in Sonbhadra, which is alarming". The funds must be withheld till the time the government makes a sincere effort to nail the guilty, his communication to the Ministry of Rural Development maintained. Earlier, in a letter addressed to secretary, rural development, B K Sinha, Dixit had claimed that during 2009-2010, Rs 204 crore were spent under the  MGNREGS in Sonbhadra. However, during his tour, he discovered that the real amount spent in the district was only Rs 100 crore. The bloated figures were a bid by the local officials to cover up the corrupt practices adopted, including fake entry into job cards. Moreover, the state government failed to monitor the development works in Sonbhadra for over two years, which Dixit alleged hinted at "a wilful collusion''. After this report was submitted by Dixit to the Centre, the state government had retaliated with levelling charges of extortion against him. However, the charges were found to be too frivolous by the inquiry officer Vinod Shankar Chaube. Chaube had instead raised doubts over the role of top officials in the state MGNREGS.
