Mohapatra said the Bondas - a primitive tribe living in the Malkangiri forests that fall in the path of the approaching cyclone - have not experienced in the recent past such a storm that weather officials said could pack gusts up to 170kmph.</p><p align="justify">&quot;They don't know how to face such a situation.                             <div align="justify">-The Telegraph</div><p align="justify"><em>Bhubaneswar: </em>The Odisha government is worried about the safety of these &quot;stubborn, independent and aggressive&quot; denizens of the hills. Cyclone Hudhud could prove to be more aggressive.</p><p align="justify">Special relief commissioner P.K. Mohapatra said the Bondas - a primitive tribe living in the Malkangiri forests that fall in the path of the approaching cyclone - have not experienced in the recent past such a storm that weather officials said could pack gusts up to 170kmph.</p><p align="justify">&quot;They don't know how to face such a situation. The Malkangiri district administration has been asked to evacuate them to safer places,&quot; said Mohapatra, who is coordinating measures to face the cyclone.</p><p align="justify">What is worrying officials more is the Bondas live on hilltops, which makes evacuating them a challenge.</p><p align="justify">The 6,000-odd Bondas, of Austro-Asiatic origin, have been living in thatched huts in the 3,000ft-high wild and inaccessible region since ages, isolated from the mainstream and rarely descending from their mountainous home.</p><p align="justify">&quot;Bondas have changed very little. Usually, they are stubborn, independent and aggressive. They will not leave their homes,&quot; said D. Subba Rao, who works with an NGO in Malkangiri.</p><p align="justify">&quot;That's why I have asked the administration to persuade them,&quot; said Mohapatra.</p><p align="justify">But there's little time left, with the cyclone expected to make landfall tomorrow. &quot;The Bonda Hills in Malkangiri is in the path of the cyclone and this area, apart from heavy rain, could witness winds blowing between 155kmph and 170kmph,&quot; said Sarat Chandra Sahu, the director of the regional meteorological centre.</p><p align="justify">&quot;I have deputed senior officials, including the project administrator of the Integrated Tribal Development Agency and the district welfare officer, to the area and asked them to open temporary shelters with kitchens. But I can't contact my officials there because of the poor communication network,&quot; Malkangiri collector D. Prasant Kumar Reddy said.</p><p align="justify">A.B. Ota, director of the State Tribal and Harijan Research and Training Institute, said the nearly extinct Bondas, who have been subjects of research by anthropologists, were &quot;precious&quot; to society. &quot;I hope the administration takes extra care for their safety.&quot;</p>

                            <div align="justify">-The Telegraph</div><p align="justify"><em>Bhubaneswar: </em>The Odisha government is worried about the safety of these &quot;stubborn, independent and aggressive&quot; denizens of the hills. Cyclone Hudhud could prove to be more aggressive.</p><p align="justify">Special relief commissioner P.K. Mohapatra said the Bondas - a primitive tribe living in the Malkangiri forests that fall in the path of the approaching cyclone - have not experienced in the recent past such a storm that weather officials said could pack gusts up to 170kmph.</p><p align="justify">&quot;They don't know how to face such a situation. The Malkangiri district administration has been asked to evacuate them to safer places,&quot; said Mohapatra, who is coordinating measures to face the cyclone.</p><p align="justify">What is worrying officials more is the Bondas live on hilltops, which makes evacuating them a challenge.</p><p align="justify">The 6,000-odd Bondas, of Austro-Asiatic origin, have been living in thatched huts in the 3,000ft-high wild and inaccessible region since ages, isolated from the mainstream and rarely descending from their mountainous home.</p><p align="justify">&quot;Bondas have changed very little. Usually, they are stubborn, independent and aggressive. They will not leave their homes,&quot; said D. Subba Rao, who works with an NGO in Malkangiri.</p><p align="justify">&quot;That's why I have asked the administration to persuade them,&quot; said Mohapatra.</p><p align="justify">But there's little time left, with the cyclone expected to make landfall tomorrow. &quot;The Bonda Hills in Malkangiri is in the path of the cyclone and this area, apart from heavy rain, could witness winds blowing between 155kmph and 170kmph,&quot; said Sarat Chandra Sahu, the director of the regional meteorological centre.</p><p align="justify">&quot;I have deputed senior officials, including the project administrator of the Integrated Tribal Development Agency and the district welfare officer, to the area and asked them to open temporary shelters with kitchens. But I can't contact my officials there because of the poor communication network,&quot; Malkangiri collector D. Prasant Kumar Reddy said.</p><p align="justify">A.B. Ota, director of the State Tribal and Harijan Research and Training Institute, said the nearly extinct Bondas, who have been subjects of research by anthropologists, were &quot;precious&quot; to society. &quot;I hope the administration takes extra care for their safety.&quot;</p>

-The Telegraph Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government is worried about the safety of these "stubborn, independent and aggressive" denizens of the hills. Cyclone Hudhud could prove to be more aggressive. Special relief commissioner P.K. Mohapatra said the Bondas - a primitive tribe living in the Malkangiri forests that fall in the path of the approaching cyclone - have not experienced in the recent past such a storm that weather officials said could pack gusts up to 170kmph. "They don't know how to face such a situation. The Malkangiri district administration has been asked to evacuate them to safer places," said Mohapatra, who is coordinating measures to face the cyclone. What is worrying officials more is the Bondas live on hilltops, which makes evacuating them a challenge. The 6,000-odd Bondas, of Austro-Asiatic origin, have been living in thatched huts in the 3,000ft-high wild and inaccessible region since ages, isolated from the mainstream and rarely descending from their mountainous home. "Bondas have changed very little. Usually, they are stubborn, independent and aggressive. They will not leave their homes," said D. Subba Rao, who works with an NGO in Malkangiri. "That's why I have asked the administration to persuade them," said Mohapatra. But there's little time left, with the cyclone expected to make landfall tomorrow. "The Bonda Hills in Malkangiri is in the path of the cyclone and this area, apart from heavy rain, could witness winds blowing between 155kmph and 170kmph," said Sarat Chandra Sahu, the director of the regional meteorological centre. "I have deputed senior officials, including the project administrator of the Integrated Tribal Development Agency and the district welfare officer, to the area and asked them to open temporary shelters with kitchens. But I can't contact my officials there because of the poor communication network," Malkangiri collector D. Prasant Kumar Reddy said. A.B. Ota, director of the State Tribal and Harijan Research and Training Institute, said the nearly extinct Bondas, who have been subjects of research by anthropologists, were "precious" to society. "I hope the administration takes extra care for their safety."
