A delhi court on Saturday ordered registration of an FIR against Team Anna member Kiran Bedi for allegedly misappropriating funds meant for her NGOs, India Vision Foundation and Navjyoti Foundation.

Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Amit Bansal ordered the FIR on the basis of a complaint filed by a Delhi-based lawyer, Devinder Singh Chauhan, alleging that Bedi had “looted” various paramilitary forces and state police organisations through a scheme called “Meri Police” run by India Vision Foundation.

Chauhan, in his complaint, also referred to the inflated air fare invoices submitted by Bedi to overcharge host NGOs and institutions, as first reported by The Indian Express.

According to Chauhan’s complaint, the “Meri Police” scheme promised to give free computer training to the children and families of the personnel of BSF, CISF, ITBP, CRPF and state police organisations. For this, Bedi reportedly got huge donations, including Rs 50 lakh from Microsoft. However, “she is charging Rs 15,000 per student and the HRD Ministry, despite receiving various complaints, is not acting against Bedi,” he said.

The complaint added that Bedi’s NGOs received Rs 6,000 per month for each centre from Vedanta Foundation for providing facilities like land and electricity, when, in fact, the facilities were being provided by police organisations.

Meanwhile, the court today dismissed a plea filed by Bedi and other Team Anna members seeking further investigations into the CWG graft cases.
