Ghazipur landfill fire: The Delhi government has ordered a probe to find the cause of the fire raging at the Ghazipur landfill.

Delhi Environment Minister Gopal Rai has ordered the Delhi Pollution Control Committee (DPCC) to investigate the cause of the fire at the Ghazipur landfill site.

Instructions have been issued to submit a report after investigating all aspects of the incident in 24 hours. Strict action will be taken against those who are careless, the government has warned.

The fire broke out at the east Delhi landfill around 2.30 pm on Monday.

Fire department officers, after over 12 hours, brought the fire under control. The flames are not visible anymore but the smoke is quite thick. The fire department said that small flames are still being seen in the area. Hence, four fire tenders have been put on standby.

Senior Aam Aadmi Party leader and MLA Atishi said three huge mounds of garbage in Ghazipur are the result of 15 years of BJP rule in the Municipal Corporation of Delhi. According to the East Delhi Municipal Corporation, it will take 200 years to level these mounds.
