New Delhi: The six-day exercise of filing nominations for the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections ended on Saturday, picking amazing pace in its last lap.

On Thursday, 414 candidates filed their nominations and on Saturday alone 775 more were added to the tally, taking the total to 1,189 nominations. Further corrections will be made after eliminating duplicate filings.

The largest number of nominations came from the Mustafabad constituency (41) while the Kasturba Nagar constituency saw only nine.

Many of the nominees have a net worth of Rs. 100 crore or more, the richest being Manjinder Singh Sirsa of Shiromani Akali Dal (Badal) contesting from Rajouri Garden. Sirsa's net worth is estimated to be Rs. 235 crore. Apart from cash and properties, he owns eight cars - a Bentley, two Range Rovers, a Land Cruiser, a Mercedes, a Touareg, an Audi and an Innova - and a Bajaj scooter. He also possesses weapons worth Rs. 3.25 lakh.

At the other end of the spectrum is Gulab Singhal, a candidate of the Bharatiya Naujawan Inklav Party, contesting from the Burari constituency. According to his affidavit, he neither has personal assets nor cash in hand.
