                            <div align="justify">A farmer and Right to Information activist from Kutch set himself on fire at a revenue office on Monday after his attempts to get information were thwarted. Jabbardan Gadhvi (45) died after dousing himself with kerosene and setting himself alight in the presence of 11 policemen. <br /><br />Kutch collector M Thennarsan suspended Dhavdi village's official Pravina Jadhav. The victim's brother Malhardan Gadhvi has lodged an FIR against the revenue officer Anirudhsinh Zala, Jadhav and police sub-inspector R G Parmar. Gadhvi had filed two RTI applications with the local officials. The first sought details about his ancestral land in Dhavdi. Jadhav refused to give him the information for more than one-and-a-half years, forcing Gadhvi to file an RTI application. <br /><br />While fighting this battle, he came to know about irregularities in the implementation of the MNREG scheme in the district and filed another RTI application asking for details. He visited the offices of local revenue department and the collector several times, but did not get the information.<br /><br /></div>

                            <div align="justify">A farmer and Right to Information activist from Kutch set himself on fire at a revenue office on Monday after his attempts to get information were thwarted. Jabbardan Gadhvi (45) died after dousing himself with kerosene and setting himself alight in the presence of 11 policemen. <br /><br />Kutch collector M Thennarsan suspended Dhavdi village's official Pravina Jadhav. The victim's brother Malhardan Gadhvi has lodged an FIR against the revenue officer Anirudhsinh Zala, Jadhav and police sub-inspector R G Parmar. Gadhvi had filed two RTI applications with the local officials. The first sought details about his ancestral land in Dhavdi. Jadhav refused to give him the information for more than one-and-a-half years, forcing Gadhvi to file an RTI application. <br /><br />While fighting this battle, he came to know about irregularities in the implementation of the MNREG scheme in the district and filed another RTI application asking for details. He visited the offices of local revenue department and the collector several times, but did not get the information.<br /><br /></div>

                            <div align="justify">A farmer and Right to Information activist from Kutch set himself on fire at a revenue office on Monday after his attempts to get information were thwarted. Jabbardan Gadhvi (45) died after dousing himself with kerosene and setting himself alight in the presence of 11 policemen. <br /><br />Kutch collector M Thennarsan suspended Dhavdi village's official Pravina Jadhav. The victim's brother Malhardan Gadhvi has lodged an FIR against the revenue officer Anirudhsinh Zala, Jadhav and police sub-inspector R G Parmar. Gadhvi had filed two RTI applications with the local officials. The first sought details about his ancestral land in Dhavdi. Jadhav refused to give him the information for more than one-and-a-half years, forcing Gadhvi to file an RTI application. <br /><br />While fighting this battle, he came to know about irregularities in the implementation of the MNREG scheme in the district and filed another RTI application asking for details. He visited the offices of local revenue department and the collector several times, but did not get the information.<br /><br /></div>

Denied info, RTI activist immolates self in Gujarat

A farmer and Right to Information activist from Kutch set himself on fire at a revenue office on Monday after his attempts to get information were thwarted. Jabbardan Gadhvi (45) died after dousing himself with kerosene and setting himself alight in the presence of 11 policemen. Kutch collector M Thennarsan suspended Dhavdi village's official Pravina Jadhav. The victim's brother Malhardan Gadhvi has lodged an FIR against the revenue officer Anirudhsinh Zala, Jadhav and police sub-inspector R G Parmar. Gadhvi had filed two RTI applications with the local officials. The first sought details about his ancestral land in Dhavdi. Jadhav refused to give him the information for more than one-and-a-half years, forcing Gadhvi to file an RTI application. While fighting this battle, he came to know about irregularities in the implementation of the MNREG scheme in the district and filed another RTI application asking for details. He visited the offices of local revenue department and the collector several times, but did not get the information.
