                            <p style="text-align:justify">-TheWire.in</p><p style="text-align:justify"><em>Corruption, poor quality construction materials and the specious implementation of schemes combined with the Centre&rsquo;s flawed MSP policies have rendered the attempt to transform the region useless.</em></p><p style="text-align:justify"><em>Chitrakoot/ Banda: </em>On a freezing night in early January, as anchors on television and radio jubilated in the new year and extolled the many &lsquo;achievements&rsquo; of the incumbent government, Madhav Prasad, a 55-year-old farmer in Bundelkhand, lay anxious on a cot in his hut.&nbsp;</p><p style="text-align:justify">The crops of wheat and mustard in his five-acre field were on the verge of drying up. It had been many days since he had last irrigated his fields because of an acute water crisis in the region combined with regular power outages.</p><p style="text-align:justify">Suddenly that night, power was restored after days. It was late, but since Prasad can&rsquo;t afford to run his water pump on diesel, he seized the opportunity and rushed towards the well, braving the strong, chilly winds of the season. There, he turned on the pump with much anticipation.</p><p style="text-align:justify">For about 20 minutes, Prasad heard the splashing of water in the well. But soon the tap ran dry. When the farmer peeked into the well, he saw that the water supply had run out. This was nothing new. For the past several years, he had faced such a problem when he needed to water his fields. He sat beside the well, waiting for the water supply to be restored. The night passed and day broke, but there was no sign of water. Then there was a power outage again. Dejected, Prasad returned home.&nbsp;</p><p style="text-align:justify">Madhav Prasad is a resident of Atari Majra village in Chitrakoot district. This area, falling in Bundelkhand&rsquo;s Patha region, has been facing a dire water situation for the past several years. &ldquo;For us, each day is a struggle to arrange a meal,&rdquo; says Prasad. &ldquo;We sowed the crop, but the rain failed us. This well has already dried up.                             <p style="text-align:justify">-TheWire.in</p><p style="text-align:justify"><em>Corruption, poor quality construction materials and the specious implementation of schemes combined with the Centre&rsquo;s flawed MSP policies have rendered the attempt to transform the region useless.</em></p><p style="text-align:justify"><em>Chitrakoot/ Banda: </em>On a freezing night in early January, as anchors on television and radio jubilated in the new year and extolled the many &lsquo;achievements&rsquo; of the incumbent government, Madhav Prasad, a 55-year-old farmer in Bundelkhand, lay anxious on a cot in his hut.&nbsp;</p><p style="text-align:justify">The crops of wheat and mustard in his five-acre field were on the verge of drying up. It had been many days since he had last irrigated his fields because of an acute water crisis in the region combined with regular power outages.</p><p style="text-align:justify">Suddenly that night, power was restored after days. It was late, but since Prasad can&rsquo;t afford to run his water pump on diesel, he seized the opportunity and rushed towards the well, braving the strong, chilly winds of the season. There, he turned on the pump with much anticipation.</p><p style="text-align:justify">For about 20 minutes, Prasad heard the splashing of water in the well. But soon the tap ran dry. When the farmer peeked into the well, he saw that the water supply had run out. This was nothing new. For the past several years, he had faced such a problem when he needed to water his fields. He sat beside the well, waiting for the water supply to be restored. The night passed and day broke, but there was no sign of water. Then there was a power outage again. Dejected, Prasad returned home.&nbsp;</p><p style="text-align:justify">Madhav Prasad is a resident of Atari Majra village in Chitrakoot district. This area, falling in Bundelkhand&rsquo;s Patha region, has been facing a dire water situation for the past several years. &ldquo;For us, each day is a struggle to arrange a meal,&rdquo; says Prasad. &ldquo;We sowed the crop, but the rain failed us. This well has already dried up.                             <p style="text-align:justify">-TheWire.in</p><p style="text-align:justify"><em>Corruption, poor quality construction materials and the specious implementation of schemes combined with the Centre&rsquo;s flawed MSP policies have rendered the attempt to transform the region useless.</em></p><p style="text-align:justify"><em>Chitrakoot/ Banda: </em>On a freezing night in early January, as anchors on television and radio jubilated in the new year and extolled the many &lsquo;achievements&rsquo; of the incumbent government, Madhav Prasad, a 55-year-old farmer in Bundelkhand, lay anxious on a cot in his hut.&nbsp;</p><p style="text-align:justify">The crops of wheat and mustard in his five-acre field were on the verge of drying up. It had been many days since he had last irrigated his fields because of an acute water crisis in the region combined with regular power outages.</p><p style="text-align:justify">Suddenly that night, power was restored after days. It was late, but since Prasad can&rsquo;t afford to run his water pump on diesel, he seized the opportunity and rushed towards the well, braving the strong, chilly winds of the season. There, he turned on the pump with much anticipation.</p><p style="text-align:justify">For about 20 minutes, Prasad heard the splashing of water in the well. But soon the tap ran dry. When the farmer peeked into the well, he saw that the water supply had run out. This was nothing new. For the past several years, he had faced such a problem when he needed to water his fields. He sat beside the well, waiting for the water supply to be restored. The night passed and day broke, but there was no sign of water. Then there was a power outage again. Dejected, Prasad returned home.&nbsp;</p><p style="text-align:justify">Madhav Prasad is a resident of Atari Majra village in Chitrakoot district. This area, falling in Bundelkhand&rsquo;s Patha region, has been facing a dire water situation for the past several years. &ldquo;For us, each day is a struggle to arrange a meal,&rdquo; says Prasad. &ldquo;We sowed the crop, but the rain failed us. This well has already dried up. Dried Wells, Broken Dams, Distressed Villagers Define UP's Multi-Crore 'Bundelkhand Package' -Dheeraj Mishra

Chitrakoot/ Banda: On a freezing night in early January, as anchors on television and radio jubilated in the new year and extolled the many ‘achievements’ of the incumbent government, Madhav Prasad, a 55-year-old farmer in Bundelkhand, lay anxious on a cot in his hut.  The crops of wheat and mustard in his five-acre field were on the verge of drying up. It had been many days since he had last irrigated his fields because of an acute water crisis in the region combined with regular power outages. Suddenly that night, power was restored after days. It was late, but since Prasad can’t afford to run his water pump on diesel, he seized the opportunity and rushed towards the well, braving the strong, chilly winds of the season. There, he turned on the pump with much anticipation. For about 20 minutes, Prasad heard the splashing of water in the well. But soon the tap ran dry. When the farmer peeked into the well, he saw that the water supply had run out. This was nothing new. For the past several years, he had faced such a problem when he needed to water his fields. He sat beside the well, waiting for the water supply to be restored. The night passed and day broke, but there was no sign of water. Then there was a power outage again. Dejected, Prasad returned home.  Madhav Prasad is a resident of Atari Majra village in Chitrakoot district. This area, falling in Bundelkhand’s Patha region, has been facing a dire water situation for the past several years. “For us, each day is a struggle to arrange a meal,” says Prasad. “We sowed the crop, but the rain failed us.
