The farmer has written to the DC and the SP to allow him to die the way he wished to if his problems were not solved. The though of committing suicide occured to him after being cheated and abandoned by his sons.<br /><br />Chandrappa was a successful farmer with six acres of irrigated land in Margonahalli village of Koratagere taluk. But his three sons have allegedly taken hold of the movable and immovable properties from him. He approached the police to seek help. As they did not pay heed to his appeal, he attempted suicide by consuming poison twice. However, he survived.<br /><br />&ldquo;As my attempt to end my life turned futile, I have approached the authorities to allow me to jump into fire,&rdquo; he stated. According to Senior Citizens Welfare Act - 2007, leaving the parents abandoned is an offence which may result in jail sentence for the children, a senior lawyer said.</div>

                            <p>-The Indian Express</p><p>&nbsp;</p><div align="justify">M G Chandrappa, a 60-year-old man from the city, has threatened the district administration that he would commit suicide by jumping into a fire. The farmer has written to the DC and the SP to allow him to die the way he wished to if his problems were not solved. The though of committing suicide occured to him after being cheated and abandoned by his sons.<br /><br />Chandrappa was a successful farmer with six acres of irrigated land in Margonahalli village of Koratagere taluk. But his three sons have allegedly taken hold of the movable and immovable properties from him. He approached the police to seek help. As they did not pay heed to his appeal, he attempted suicide by consuming poison twice. However, he survived.<br /><br />&ldquo;As my attempt to end my life turned futile, I have approached the authorities to allow me to jump into fire,&rdquo; he stated. According to Senior Citizens Welfare Act - 2007, leaving the parents abandoned is an offence which may result in jail sentence for the children, a senior lawyer said.</div>

                            <p>-The Indian Express</p><p>&nbsp;</p><div align="justify">M G Chandrappa, a 60-year-old man from the city, has threatened the district administration that he would commit suicide by jumping into a fire. The farmer has written to the DC and the SP to allow him to die the way he wished to if his problems were not solved. The though of committing suicide occured to him after being cheated and abandoned by his sons.<br /><br />Chandrappa was a successful farmer with six acres of irrigated land in Margonahalli village of Koratagere taluk. But his three sons have allegedly taken hold of the movable and immovable properties from him. He approached the police to seek help. As they did not pay heed to his appeal, he attempted suicide by consuming poison twice. However, he survived.<br /><br />&ldquo;As my attempt to end my life turned futile, I have approached the authorities to allow me to jump into fire,&rdquo; he stated. According to Senior Citizens Welfare Act - 2007, leaving the parents abandoned is an offence which may result in jail sentence for the children, a senior lawyer said.</div>

Farmer seeks nod to end life

-The Indian Express   M G Chandrappa, a 60-year-old man from the city, has threatened the district administration that he would commit suicide by jumping into a fire. The farmer has written to the DC and the SP to allow him to die the way he wished to if his problems were not solved. The though of committing suicide occured to him after being cheated and abandoned by his sons. Chandrappa was a successful farmer with six acres of irrigated land in Margonahalli village of Koratagere taluk. But his three sons have allegedly taken hold of the movable and immovable properties from him. He approached the police to seek help. As they did not pay heed to his appeal, he attempted suicide by consuming poison twice. However, he survived. “As my attempt to end my life turned futile, I have approached the authorities to allow me to jump into fire,” he stated. According to Senior Citizens Welfare Act - 2007, leaving the parents abandoned is an offence which may result in jail sentence for the children, a senior lawyer said.
