                            <font ><br /></font><div align="justify"><br /><br /><font >Just three days after the Jaypee group resumed work on the Yamuna Expressway in Aligarh&rsquo;s Tappal area in Uttar Pradesh after the last month&rsquo;s agitation, the farmers again brought it to a halt on Tuesday evening, demanding compensation for the crops on the land acquired for the project, return of the land to farmers who were against acquisition, and withdrawal of the cases registered against them during the agitation.</font><br /><br /><font >The immediate provocation was the arrest of farmers&rsquo; leader Manvir Singh Teotiya by the Noida police for addressing a public meeting in violation of prohibitory orders. The farmers blocked the Aligarh-Delhi highway for a few hours and continued the protest despite Teotiya being released in the morning.</font><br /><br /><font >Aligarh SSP Satyendra Vir Singh said the farmers claimed that while withdrawing their agitation last month, they had made it clear that no construction work would be allowed until their demands were met. They had also announced to revive their agitation on October 5 if the demands remained unfulfilled.</font><br /><br /><font >Aligarh DM Ravindra Nair said the Jaypee group started handing over cheques against crop compensation on Wednesday. About 200 farmers have to be compensated.</font><br /><br /><font >&ldquo;The issue in Tappal was not the Yamuna Expressway, but the township project.                             <font ><br /></font><div align="justify"><br /><br /><font >Just three days after the Jaypee group resumed work on the Yamuna Expressway in Aligarh&rsquo;s Tappal area in Uttar Pradesh after the last month&rsquo;s agitation, the farmers again brought it to a halt on Tuesday evening, demanding compensation for the crops on the land acquired for the project, return of the land to farmers who were against acquisition, and withdrawal of the cases registered against them during the agitation.</font><br /><br /><font >The immediate provocation was the arrest of farmers&rsquo; leader Manvir Singh Teotiya by the Noida police for addressing a public meeting in violation of prohibitory orders. The farmers blocked the Aligarh-Delhi highway for a few hours and continued the protest despite Teotiya being released in the morning.</font><br /><br /><font >Aligarh SSP Satyendra Vir Singh said the farmers claimed that while withdrawing their agitation last month, they had made it clear that no construction work would be allowed until their demands were met. They had also announced to revive their agitation on October 5 if the demands remained unfulfilled.</font><br /><br /><font >Aligarh DM Ravindra Nair said the Jaypee group started handing over cheques against crop compensation on Wednesday. About 200 farmers have to be compensated.</font><br /><br /><font >&ldquo;The issue in Tappal was not the Yamuna Expressway, but the township project. The government has scrapped the township project, &ldquo; Nair said</font><br /><br /></div>

                            <font ><br /></font><div align="justify"><br /><br /><font >Just three days after the Jaypee group resumed work on the Yamuna Expressway in Aligarh&rsquo;s Tappal area in Uttar Pradesh after the last month&rsquo;s agitation, the farmers again brought it to a halt on Tuesday evening, demanding compensation for the crops on the land acquired for the project, return of the land to farmers who were against acquisition, and withdrawal of the cases registered against them during the agitation.</font><br /><br /><font >The immediate provocation was the arrest of farmers&rsquo; leader Manvir Singh Teotiya by the Noida police for addressing a public meeting in violation of prohibitory orders. The farmers blocked the Aligarh-Delhi highway for a few hours and continued the protest despite Teotiya being released in the morning.</font><br /><br /><font >Aligarh SSP Satyendra Vir Singh said the farmers claimed that while withdrawing their agitation last month, they had made it clear that no construction work would be allowed until their demands were met. They had also announced to revive their agitation on October 5 if the demands remained unfulfilled.</font><br /><br /><font >Aligarh DM Ravindra Nair said the Jaypee group started handing over cheques against crop compensation on Wednesday. About 200 farmers have to be compensated.</font><br /><br /><font >&ldquo;The issue in Tappal was not the Yamuna Expressway, but the township project. The government has scrapped the township project, &ldquo; Nair said</font><br /><br /></div>

Farmers bring work on Yamuna Expressway to halt again

Just three days after the Jaypee group resumed work on the Yamuna Expressway in Aligarh’s Tappal area in Uttar Pradesh after the last month’s agitation, the farmers again brought it to a halt on Tuesday evening, demanding compensation for the crops on the land acquired for the project, return of the land to farmers who were against acquisition, and withdrawal of the cases registered against them during the agitation. The immediate provocation was the arrest of farmers’ leader Manvir Singh Teotiya by the Noida police for addressing a public meeting in violation of prohibitory orders. The farmers blocked the Aligarh-Delhi highway for a few hours and continued the protest despite Teotiya being released in the morning. Aligarh SSP Satyendra Vir Singh said the farmers claimed that while withdrawing their agitation last month, they had made it clear that no construction work would be allowed until their demands were met. They had also announced to revive their agitation on October 5 if the demands remained unfulfilled. Aligarh DM Ravindra Nair said the Jaypee group started handing over cheques against crop compensation on Wednesday.
