                            <p align="justify"><font >At a time when farmers across the country have been agitating against acquisition of their land for developmental works, a delegation from Delhi&rsquo;s villages called on Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit and presented to her a resolution offering 540 bighas of land in the Ghumanhera village in Najafgarh for opening of a State university.</font></p><p align="justify"><font >The delegation, led by Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee general secretary Naresh Kumar and president of 360 Khap Palam Kisan Chandra Solanki, met Ms. Dikshit at her residence and submitted a memorandum seeking opening of a new general university under the Delhi Government. They said opening of a new general university under the Delhi Government would benefit the farmers of Delhi as it would also help in implementation of the OBC reservation list under which the Jat community is covered. Since this list is not implemented in the Delhi University, as it is a Central university, they said the community is at present deprived of reservation in admissions and securing jobs.</font></p><p align="justify"><font >Dr. Kumar, who had earlier also raised the issue of inclusive development in the rural areas with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and had asked for giving a portion of the developed land to the farmers from whom it is acquired, said the day&rsquo;s meeting was historic as the farmers here have wilfully offered to give the Gram Sabha land for a noble cause. The delegation also mentioned that it had met Union Human Resource Development Minister Kapil Sibal on November 19 to seek the creation of a new university under the Delhi Government. </font></p><p align="justify"><font ></font></p>

                            <p align="justify"><font >At a time when farmers across the country have been agitating against acquisition of their land for developmental works, a delegation from Delhi&rsquo;s villages called on Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit and presented to her a resolution offering 540 bighas of land in the Ghumanhera village in Najafgarh for opening of a State university.</font></p><p align="justify"><font >The delegation, led by Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee general secretary Naresh Kumar and president of 360 Khap Palam Kisan Chandra Solanki, met Ms. Dikshit at her residence and submitted a memorandum seeking opening of a new general university under the Delhi Government. They said opening of a new general university under the Delhi Government would benefit the farmers of Delhi as it would also help in implementation of the OBC reservation list under which the Jat community is covered. Since this list is not implemented in the Delhi University, as it is a Central university, they said the community is at present deprived of reservation in admissions and securing jobs.</font></p><p align="justify"><font >Dr. Kumar, who had earlier also raised the issue of inclusive development in the rural areas with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and had asked for giving a portion of the developed land to the farmers from whom it is acquired, said the day&rsquo;s meeting was historic as the farmers here have wilfully offered to give the Gram Sabha land for a noble cause. The delegation also mentioned that it had met Union Human Resource Development Minister Kapil Sibal on November 19 to seek the creation of a new university under the Delhi Government. </font></p><p align="justify"><font ></font></p>

                            <p align="justify"><font >At a time when farmers across the country have been agitating against acquisition of their land for developmental works, a delegation from Delhi&rsquo;s villages called on Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit and presented to her a resolution offering 540 bighas of land in the Ghumanhera village in Najafgarh for opening of a State university.</font></p><p align="justify"><font >The delegation, led by Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee general secretary Naresh Kumar and president of 360 Khap Palam Kisan Chandra Solanki, met Ms. Dikshit at her residence and submitted a memorandum seeking opening of a new general university under the Delhi Government. They said opening of a new general university under the Delhi Government would benefit the farmers of Delhi as it would also help in implementation of the OBC reservation list under which the Jat community is covered. Since this list is not implemented in the Delhi University, as it is a Central university, they said the community is at present deprived of reservation in admissions and securing jobs.</font></p><p align="justify"><font >Dr. Kumar, who had earlier also raised the issue of inclusive development in the rural areas with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and had asked for giving a portion of the developed land to the farmers from whom it is acquired, said the day&rsquo;s meeting was historic as the farmers here have wilfully offered to give the Gram Sabha land for a noble cause. The delegation also mentioned that it had met Union Human Resource Development Minister Kapil Sibal on November 19 to seek the creation of a new university under the Delhi Government. </font></p><p align="justify"><font ></font></p>

Farmers offer Gram Sabha land to Govt. for opening varsity

At a time when farmers across the country have been agitating against acquisition of their land for developmental works, a delegation from Delhi’s villages called on Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit and presented to her a resolution offering 540 bighas of land in the Ghumanhera village in Najafgarh for opening of a State university. The delegation, led by Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee general secretary Naresh Kumar and president of 360 Khap Palam Kisan Chandra Solanki, met Ms. Dikshit at her residence and submitted a memorandum seeking opening of a new general university under the Delhi Government. They said opening of a new general university under the Delhi Government would benefit the farmers of Delhi as it would also help in implementation of the OBC reservation list under which the Jat community is covered. Since this list is not implemented in the Delhi University, as it is a Central university, they said the community is at present deprived of reservation in admissions and securing jobs. Dr. Kumar, who had earlier also raised the issue of inclusive development in the rural areas with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and had asked for giving a portion of the developed land to the farmers from whom it is acquired, said the day’s meeting was historic as the farmers here have wilfully offered to give the Gram Sabha land for a noble cause. The delegation also mentioned that it had met Union Human Resource Development Minister Kapil Sibal on November 19 to seek the creation of a new university under the Delhi Government.
