The flood situation remained grim in most of north India with Uttar Pradesh and Bihar being the worst affected. More than a hundred people have died since the start of the monsoon and thousands of people rendered homeless. Standing crop has been damaged in several districts and livestock of many villages has got swept away.

Most rivers in east and southeast of Uttar Pradesh are flowing above the danger mark. The state met department said these areas have received significant rainfall in the past two days. The problem of flooding has been compounded with the release of water from dams in Nepal.

According to government sources, 25 districts are flood affected in the state.

Several districts in Bihar, too, were hit as Ghaghara, which originates in Nepal and passes through Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, rose due to heavy rainfall in Bihar's Siwan district.
