A State-level agricultural services extension campaign was launched at tribal-dominated Asawata village in Pratapgarh district of Rajasthan on Saturday with a call made to the farmers to get the benefit of seed and fertiliser supply as well as the soil tests.

State Agriculture and Animal Husbandry Minister Harjiram Burdak, inaugurating the campaign at the Government Secondary School in the village, said 4,800 quintals of seeds would be distributed free of cost to about 96,000 farmers in one of the camps to be organised in Pratapgarh.

Besides, free services will be offered to farmers to help them improve their crop yield.

Mr. Burdak said 474 “progressive farmers” were given prizes worth Rs.75 lakh recently in recognition of their innovative agricultural practices, while 230 veterinary camps were organised across the State for cattle breeders.

According to an official release here, Mr. Burdak said 14 new soil-testing laboratories would be constructed all over the State during the current financial year to help the farmers select suitable crops for their fields and preserve nutritive elements in soil and water.
