The government of India has refused to furnish a copy of Kashmir interlocutors' report to a top Right To Information (RTI) campaigner in Jammu and Kashmir.

Jammu and Kashmir RTI movement convener, Dr Raja Muzaffar Bhat had sought a copy of interlocutor' report, but the Ministry of Home Affairs denied the request.

The application for the report was filed by Dr Bhat on November 17, 2011 under the RTI Act 2005 of India.

After the 2010 unrest Government of India had formed a group of persons to make a road map for the solution of political unrest in Kashmir. M M Ansari, Radha Kumar and Dilip Padgonkar were in the interlocutor panel to provide the way-out for the crisis in the Valley.

Dr Raja had filed an RTI in the Ministry of Home Affairs, J&K Division, North Block, New Delhi under file number 18012/29/2011—KI.

The said ministry replied back and gave its reasons for denying of giving any information related to interlocutors’ report.

The Ministry said that the report is under process, but the RTI movement convener said that the report is not under process and it’s finished.

The ministry didn’t stop here they also said in its reply that it is a threat to the national sovereignty and Integrity.

For which Dr Raja said that how could it affect the sovereignty and integrity of India when the report is need to be make public soon? The reply also reasoned not to provide copy of the report as it could create severe security problems for the country.

Dr Bhat denied such claims by the Home Ministry and said that the government is not serious to provide any information when the report will be make public as the ministry had said before.
