                            <div align="justify">Jammu and Kashmir is all set to get its first Information Commission after a high-power committee cleared the name of a senior Indian Revenue Service Officer for the post of Chief Information Commissioner.<br /><br />Official sources told The Hindu that the committee, headed by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah with Deputy Chief Minister Tara Chand and Leader of the Opposition Mehbooba Mufti as members, met in Jammu on Thursday and cleared the name of G.R. Sufi, Chief Commissioner Income Tax, Amritsar, as the first CIC of the State. However, the selection of two Information Commissioners was delayed and the committee would meet again to decide about them.<br /><br />A 1977 batch IRS officer, Mr Sufi hails from Srinagar. Formal orders would be issued shortly, the sources said.</div>

                            <div align="justify">Jammu and Kashmir is all set to get its first Information Commission after a high-power committee cleared the name of a senior Indian Revenue Service Officer for the post of Chief Information Commissioner.<br /><br />Official sources told The Hindu that the committee, headed by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah with Deputy Chief Minister Tara Chand and Leader of the Opposition Mehbooba Mufti as members, met in Jammu on Thursday and cleared the name of G.R. Sufi, Chief Commissioner Income Tax, Amritsar, as the first CIC of the State. However, the selection of two Information Commissioners was delayed and the committee would meet again to decide about them.<br /><br />A 1977 batch IRS officer, Mr Sufi hails from Srinagar. Formal orders would be issued shortly, the sources said.</div>

                            <div align="justify">Jammu and Kashmir is all set to get its first Information Commission after a high-power committee cleared the name of a senior Indian Revenue Service Officer for the post of Chief Information Commissioner.<br /><br />Official sources told The Hindu that the committee, headed by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah with Deputy Chief Minister Tara Chand and Leader of the Opposition Mehbooba Mufti as members, met in Jammu on Thursday and cleared the name of G.R. Sufi, Chief Commissioner Income Tax, Amritsar, as the first CIC of the State. However, the selection of two Information Commissioners was delayed and the committee would meet again to decide about them.<br /><br />A 1977 batch IRS officer, Mr Sufi hails from Srinagar. Formal orders would be issued shortly, the sources said.</div>

GR Sufi chosen J&K's first CIC by Shujaat Bukhari

Jammu and Kashmir is all set to get its first Information Commission after a high-power committee cleared the name of a senior Indian Revenue Service Officer for the post of Chief Information Commissioner. Official sources told The Hindu that the committee, headed by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah with Deputy Chief Minister Tara Chand and Leader of the Opposition Mehbooba Mufti as members, met in Jammu on Thursday and cleared the name of G.R. Sufi, Chief Commissioner Income Tax, Amritsar, as the first CIC of the State. However, the selection of two Information Commissioners was delayed and the committee would meet again to decide about them. A 1977 batch IRS officer, Mr Sufi hails from Srinagar. Formal orders would be issued shortly, the sources said.
