                            <br /><div align="justify">An RTI activist, Mahabir Singh, paid a heavy price for exposing a racket at Chandrawal Village of Fatehabad district in Haryana.<br /><br />Mahabir and some of his friends had filed RTIs to find out more about the Sarpanch and others usurping pension money.<br /><br />They then complained to the district officers, but when nothing happened, they approached the court, that registered a case against the Sarpanch, district social-welfare officer and 14 others.<br /><br />In retaliation, the Sarpanch and his men beat-up Mahabir and also allegedly slammed their car into Mahabir's daughter-in-law, who later died in a hospital in Hissar.<br /><br />&quot;There were these four or five women standing here when they came. They started hitting the daughter-in-law and when she fell on the floor they ran their car over her and fled away,&quot; said an eye-witness.<br /><br />The police have swung into action and a case has been registered against the Sarpanch.<br /><br />&quot;We have booked the Sarpanch for murder and causing hurt by dangerous weapons, said SHO Subhash Saharan. <br /></div>

                            <br /><div align="justify">An RTI activist, Mahabir Singh, paid a heavy price for exposing a racket at Chandrawal Village of Fatehabad district in Haryana.<br /><br />Mahabir and some of his friends had filed RTIs to find out more about the Sarpanch and others usurping pension money.<br /><br />They then complained to the district officers, but when nothing happened, they approached the court, that registered a case against the Sarpanch, district social-welfare officer and 14 others.<br /><br />In retaliation, the Sarpanch and his men beat-up Mahabir and also allegedly slammed their car into Mahabir's daughter-in-law, who later died in a hospital in Hissar.<br /><br />&quot;There were these four or five women standing here when they came. They started hitting the daughter-in-law and when she fell on the floor they ran their car over her and fled away,&quot; said an eye-witness.<br /><br />The police have swung into action and a case has been registered against the Sarpanch.<br /><br />&quot;We have booked the Sarpanch for murder and causing hurt by dangerous weapons, said SHO Subhash Saharan. <br /></div>

                            <br /><div align="justify">An RTI activist, Mahabir Singh, paid a heavy price for exposing a racket at Chandrawal Village of Fatehabad district in Haryana.<br /><br />Mahabir and some of his friends had filed RTIs to find out more about the Sarpanch and others usurping pension money.<br /><br />They then complained to the district officers, but when nothing happened, they approached the court, that registered a case against the Sarpanch, district social-welfare officer and 14 others.<br /><br />In retaliation, the Sarpanch and his men beat-up Mahabir and also allegedly slammed their car into Mahabir's daughter-in-law, who later died in a hospital in Hissar.<br /><br />&quot;There were these four or five women standing here when they came. They started hitting the daughter-in-law and when she fell on the floor they ran their car over her and fled away,&quot; said an eye-witness.<br /><br />The police have swung into action and a case has been registered against the Sarpanch.<br /><br />&quot;We have booked the Sarpanch for murder and causing hurt by dangerous weapons, said SHO Subhash Saharan. <br /></div>

Haryana: RTI activist's daughter-in-law killed

An RTI activist, Mahabir Singh, paid a heavy price for exposing a racket at Chandrawal Village of Fatehabad district in Haryana. Mahabir and some of his friends had filed RTIs to find out more about the Sarpanch and others usurping pension money. They then complained to the district officers, but when nothing happened, they approached the court, that registered a case against the Sarpanch, district social-welfare officer and 14 others. In retaliation, the Sarpanch and his men beat-up Mahabir and also allegedly slammed their car into Mahabir's daughter-in-law, who later died in a hospital in Hissar. "There were these four or five women standing here when they came. They started hitting the daughter-in-law and when she fell on the floor they ran their car over her and fled away," said an eye-witness. The police have swung into action and a case has been registered against the Sarpanch. "We have booked the Sarpanch for murder and causing hurt by dangerous weapons, said SHO Subhash Saharan.
