Taking note of the depleting water table across the district, Gurgaon MP Rao Inderjeet Singh has asked local officers to identify water bodies in the district which can be revived to recharge ground water.

The MP said: Under the Integrated Water Management programme, the water bodies can be saved from vanishing.

Singh, also the chairman of Parliamentary Standing Committee on IT, reviewed the progress of work under central and state government sponsored schemes during a meeting on Monday.

Rao Inderjeet has recommended an amount of Rs 40.18 lakh for 22 projects during the current fiscal. Out of this, Rs 34.33 lakh has been disbursed to concerned officers to execute the work.

According to additional deputy commissioner (ADC) V S Hooda a proposal for the conservation of 12,373 hectares of land falling under the district administration in 76 villages has been prepared and sent to the government.

The Rs 16.29 crore plan includes 21 micro watersheds. Rao Inderjeet also directed the Municipal Corporation to construct 10 public toilets on pilot basis while reviewing the total sanitation state in the city. While reviewing the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA), he asked the officers to take up labour oriented works under this scheme when they execute various types of development works.
