                            <div style="text-align: justify"><em>Tribal leaders outrightly rejected any move to change the CNT Act and lambasted some of the tribal leaders and political class that have advocated changes in century-old Land Act.</em></div><div style="text-align: justify"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify">Called by the CNT Act Bacaho Suraksha Samiti (committee to save CNT Act), veteran tribal leaders and activists gathered at Morhabadi Ground on Sunday where they threatened to launch a Statewide agitation if amendments in the Act were proposed by the Government.</div><div style="text-align: justify"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify">Addressing the gathering tribal leader Suraj Singh Besra termed it a deliberate attempt to dislodge tribal people from their lands. &quot;CNT Act was brought to safeguard tribal interest and to preserve their socio-cultural traits. Attempts are being made to subvert the act,&quot; he said.</div><div style="text-align: justify"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify">Another tribal leader Prabhakar Tikey also dubbed ongoing debate over CNT Act with an aim to change some of its provisions purely sponsored by corporate and capitalistic forces. &quot;They want to fast-belt resources from here. They want the provisions to be changed to suit corporate and capitalist forces,&quot; he said. He also urged the media to play a balancing role.</div><div style="text-align: justify"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify">In the weeks gone a major faultline has developed over the issue making power portal worried. In the wake of the polarisation and difference of opinions Governor Dr Syed Ahmed on Friday had invited the members of the Tribal Advisory Council for a tea party. The move was seen as a discreet effort of the Governor to know their mind over the Act.</div><div style="text-align: justify"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify">BJP in its take over the issue appealed the Government to hold an all-party meeting. On the other hand, senior BJP leader Raghuwar Das demanded those OBC caste listed in the CNT Act whose lands can't be sold and purchased without prior permission of the DC of concerned district within the section 46 of the Act should be removed. While terming the Act dated Das advocated modification in the Act to help tribal and others. Das also lamented the Act has been creating problems before tribal in getting loans against their lands. While the budget session of the State Assembly is scheduled to start from March 5 the CNT Act issue is sure to create a storm.</div>

                            <div style="text-align: justify"><em>Tribal leaders outrightly rejected any move to change the CNT Act and lambasted some of the tribal leaders and political class that have advocated changes in century-old Land Act.</em></div><div style="text-align: justify"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify">Called by the CNT Act Bacaho Suraksha Samiti (committee to save CNT Act), veteran tribal leaders and activists gathered at Morhabadi Ground on Sunday where they threatened to launch a Statewide agitation if amendments in the Act were proposed by the Government.</div><div style="text-align: justify"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify">Addressing the gathering tribal leader Suraj Singh Besra termed it a deliberate attempt to dislodge tribal people from their lands. &quot;CNT Act was brought to safeguard tribal interest and to preserve their socio-cultural traits. Attempts are being made to subvert the act,&quot; he said.</div><div style="text-align: justify"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify">Another tribal leader Prabhakar Tikey also dubbed ongoing debate over CNT Act with an aim to change some of its provisions purely sponsored by corporate and capitalistic forces. &quot;They want to fast-belt resources from here. They want the provisions to be changed to suit corporate and capitalist forces,&quot; he said. He also urged the media to play a balancing role.</div><div style="text-align: justify"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify">In the weeks gone a major faultline has developed over the issue making power portal worried. In the wake of the polarisation and difference of opinions Governor Dr Syed Ahmed on Friday had invited the members of the Tribal Advisory Council for a tea party. The move was seen as a discreet effort of the Governor to know their mind over the Act.</div><div style="text-align: justify"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify">BJP in its take over the issue appealed the Government to hold an all-party meeting. On the other hand, senior BJP leader Raghuwar Das demanded those OBC caste listed in the CNT Act whose lands can't be sold and purchased without prior permission of the DC of concerned district within the section 46 of the Act should be removed. While terming the Act dated Das advocated modification in the Act to help tribal and others. Das also lamented the Act has been creating problems before tribal in getting loans against their lands. While the budget session of the State Assembly is scheduled to start from March 5 the CNT Act issue is sure to create a storm.</div>

                            <div style="text-align: justify"><em>Tribal leaders outrightly rejected any move to change the CNT Act and lambasted some of the tribal leaders and political class that have advocated changes in century-old Land Act.</em></div><div style="text-align: justify"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify">Called by the CNT Act Bacaho Suraksha Samiti (committee to save CNT Act), veteran tribal leaders and activists gathered at Morhabadi Ground on Sunday where they threatened to launch a Statewide agitation if amendments in the Act were proposed by the Government.</div><div style="text-align: justify"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify">Addressing the gathering tribal leader Suraj Singh Besra termed it a deliberate attempt to dislodge tribal people from their lands. &quot;CNT Act was brought to safeguard tribal interest and to preserve their socio-cultural traits. Attempts are being made to subvert the act,&quot; he said.</div><div style="text-align: justify"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify">Another tribal leader Prabhakar Tikey also dubbed ongoing debate over CNT Act with an aim to change some of its provisions purely sponsored by corporate and capitalistic forces. &quot;They want to fast-belt resources from here. They want the provisions to be changed to suit corporate and capitalist forces,&quot; he said. He also urged the media to play a balancing role.</div><div style="text-align: justify"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify">In the weeks gone a major faultline has developed over the issue making power portal worried. In the wake of the polarisation and difference of opinions Governor Dr Syed Ahmed on Friday had invited the members of the Tribal Advisory Council for a tea party. The move was seen as a discreet effort of the Governor to know their mind over the Act.</div><div style="text-align: justify"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify">BJP in its take over the issue appealed the Government to hold an all-party meeting. On the other hand, senior BJP leader Raghuwar Das demanded those OBC caste listed in the CNT Act whose lands can't be sold and purchased without prior permission of the DC of concerned district within the section 46 of the Act should be removed. While terming the Act dated Das advocated modification in the Act to help tribal and others. Das also lamented the Act has been creating problems before tribal in getting loans against their lands. While the budget session of the State Assembly is scheduled to start from March 5 the CNT Act issue is sure to create a storm.</div>

Jharkhand’s tribals want CNT Act to stay as it is by Rashmi Verma

Tribal leaders outrightly rejected any move to change the CNT Act and lambasted some of the tribal leaders and political class that have advocated changes in century-old Land Act. Called by the CNT Act Bacaho Suraksha Samiti (committee to save CNT Act), veteran tribal leaders and activists gathered at Morhabadi Ground on Sunday where they threatened to launch a Statewide agitation if amendments in the Act were proposed by the Government. Addressing the gathering tribal leader Suraj Singh Besra termed it a deliberate attempt to dislodge tribal people from their lands. "CNT Act was brought to safeguard tribal interest and to preserve their socio-cultural traits. Attempts are being made to subvert the act," he said. Another tribal leader Prabhakar Tikey also dubbed ongoing debate over CNT Act with an aim to change some of its provisions purely sponsored by corporate and capitalistic forces. "They want to fast-belt resources from here. They want the provisions to be changed to suit corporate and capitalist forces," he said. He also urged the media to play a balancing role. In the weeks gone a major faultline has developed over the issue making power portal worried. In the wake of the polarisation and difference of opinions Governor Dr Syed Ahmed on Friday had invited the members of the Tribal Advisory Council for a tea party. The move was seen as a discreet effort of the Governor to know their mind over the Act. BJP in its take over the issue appealed the Government to hold an all-party meeting. On the other hand, senior BJP leader Raghuwar Das demanded those OBC caste listed in the CNT Act whose lands can't be sold and purchased without prior permission of the DC of concerned district within the section 46 of the Act should be removed. While terming the Act dated Das advocated modification in the Act to help tribal and others. Das also lamented the Act has been creating problems before tribal in getting loans against their lands. While the budget session of the State Assembly is scheduled to start from March 5 the CNT Act issue is sure to create a storm.
