The Labour and Employment Ministry is expecting Rs 1,300 crore under planned allocation in the coming Budget, which will enable it to reach out to more workers in unorganised sector and extending health insurance cover to poor, an official said.

The Ministry was allocated Rs 965 crore under the same plan in the ongoing fiscal.

"We are expecting Rs 1,300 crore in the coming Budget to extend insurance cover to the poor and new segments and for effective implementation of various schemes for the working class," a senior Labour and Employment Ministry official said.

The increased allocation will help the Ministry to focus on the issue of child labour, he said.

The Ministry will have about Rs 750 crore for upgrading 1,400 ITIs, the official said.

The Rashtriya Swasthya Bima Yojana (RSBY), a health insurance scheme providing smart cards for availing cashless health facilities, is also expected to be given a further push in the budget to cover more sections.

Recently, the Cabinet had approved extending the scheme to street vendors. Railway porters were also covered under the scheme, the official said, adding that over 2.18 crore cards have been issued so far under the scheme, he said.
