                            <p>-PTI</p><p>&nbsp;</p><div align="justify">All major agrarian states are facing shortage of farm labourers due to factors like implementation of NREGA and migration of labours to urban areas for better job prospects, Parliament was informed today.<br /><br />&quot;All major agricultural producing states where rural employment generation programmes are being implemented are facing this problem (labour shortage),&quot; Minister of State for Agriculture Harish Rawat said in a written reply to Lok Sabha.<br /><br />Factors such as implementation of Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGA), migration of labour to urban areas in search of better livelihood opportunities etc are among reasons for shortage of farm labour, Rawat added.<br /><br />According to the Commission for Agricultural Costs and Prices (CACP), farming operations in major agrarian states have been affected during the peak season due to less availability of farm labourers, the minister said.<br /><br />Rawat said the government is trying to contain the problem.<br /><br />&quot;Government is advising the states to fix the floor level minimum wages in all occupations, which is likely to reduce distress migration and make more casual labour available in rural area, thus increasing supply of labour,&quot; Rawat said.<br /><br /></div>

                            <p>-PTI</p><p>&nbsp;</p><div align="justify">All major agrarian states are facing shortage of farm labourers due to factors like implementation of NREGA and migration of labours to urban areas for better job prospects, Parliament was informed today.<br /><br />&quot;All major agricultural producing states where rural employment generation programmes are being implemented are facing this problem (labour shortage),&quot; Minister of State for Agriculture Harish Rawat said in a written reply to Lok Sabha.<br /><br />Factors such as implementation of Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGA), migration of labour to urban areas in search of better livelihood opportunities etc are among reasons for shortage of farm labour, Rawat added.<br /><br />According to the Commission for Agricultural Costs and Prices (CACP), farming operations in major agrarian states have been affected during the peak season due to less availability of farm labourers, the minister said.<br /><br />Rawat said the government is trying to contain the problem.<br /><br />&quot;Government is advising the states to fix the floor level minimum wages in all occupations, which is likely to reduce distress migration and make more casual labour available in rural area, thus increasing supply of labour,&quot; Rawat said.<br /><br /></div>

                            <p>-PTI</p><p>&nbsp;</p><div align="justify">All major agrarian states are facing shortage of farm labourers due to factors like implementation of NREGA and migration of labours to urban areas for better job prospects, Parliament was informed today.<br /><br />&quot;All major agricultural producing states where rural employment generation programmes are being implemented are facing this problem (labour shortage),&quot; Minister of State for Agriculture Harish Rawat said in a written reply to Lok Sabha.<br /><br />Factors such as implementation of Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGA), migration of labour to urban areas in search of better livelihood opportunities etc are among reasons for shortage of farm labour, Rawat added.<br /><br />According to the Commission for Agricultural Costs and Prices (CACP), farming operations in major agrarian states have been affected during the peak season due to less availability of farm labourers, the minister said.<br /><br />Rawat said the government is trying to contain the problem.<br /><br />&quot;Government is advising the states to fix the floor level minimum wages in all occupations, which is likely to reduce distress migration and make more casual labour available in rural area, thus increasing supply of labour,&quot; Rawat said.<br /><br /></div>

Labour shortage due to rural employment generation programmes: Govt

-PTI   All major agrarian states are facing shortage of farm labourers due to factors like implementation of NREGA and migration of labours to urban areas for better job prospects, Parliament was informed today. "All major agricultural producing states where rural employment generation programmes are being implemented are facing this problem (labour shortage)," Minister of State for Agriculture Harish Rawat said in a written reply to Lok Sabha. Factors such as implementation of Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGA), migration of labour to urban areas in search of better livelihood opportunities etc are among reasons for shortage of farm labour, Rawat added. According to the Commission for Agricultural Costs and Prices (CACP), farming operations in major agrarian states have been affected during the peak season due to less availability of farm labourers, the minister said. Rawat said the government is trying to contain the problem. "Government is advising the states to fix the floor level minimum wages in all occupations, which is likely to reduce distress migration and make more casual labour available in rural area, thus increasing supply of labour," Rawat said.
