                            <font ><br /></font><div align="justify"><font >Reiterating her stand on the Rajarhat land issue, Trinamool Congress chief and Railway Minister Mamata Banerjee on Saturday asked the Left Front government to put on hold all land acquisition in the new township till the Land Acquisition Act 1894 is amended.</font><br /><br /><font >She said, she has communicated her view to the government about the changes in the current Act.</font><br /><br /><font >&ldquo;The state government should stop all its efforts of acquiring land. Their days are numbered. The acquisition can be conducted only after the current Act is amended,&rdquo; said Banerjee at a press conference on Saturday.</font><br /><br /><font >She said that she expressed her views to the Centre that land should not be acquired by the government for private industrial projects. Only in case of public purpose - like transport, irrigation, and government usage - the state government will be allowed to acquire land. Moreover, land for public purposes should be acquired amicably from the farmers, without applying any force.</font><br /><br /><font >&ldquo;I have information that the state government is planning to acquire more land in various places, including Rajarhat. I would urge the people to stand up fearlessly against any such move. The days of the Left Front government are numbered, it is only few more months,&rdquo; she said.</font><br /><br /><font >Clarifying the statement she had made at the Rajarhat rally, Banerjee said that she had urged the state government to allot 10 per cent of the developed land to the affected and dispossessed farmers. But the government misinterpreted her view, she said.</font><br /><br /><font >&ldquo;The proposal was based on my view about the compensation package for the affected farmers. This should be followed everywhere in the country, not only in Rajarhat. The CPM is trying to vitiate the idea by saying that this formula should also be applied in the Singur case also. But Singur is a different case. Farmers of 400-acre land refused to accept money. They are unwilling farmers. I fought for them. Still I stick to my stand that these farmers should be returned 400 acres of land and then the industry should be started,&rdquo; she said</font><br /><br /></div>

                            <font ><br /></font><div align="justify"><font >Reiterating her stand on the Rajarhat land issue, Trinamool Congress chief and Railway Minister Mamata Banerjee on Saturday asked the Left Front government to put on hold all land acquisition in the new township till the Land Acquisition Act 1894 is amended.</font><br /><br /><font >She said, she has communicated her view to the government about the changes in the current Act.</font><br /><br /><font >&ldquo;The state government should stop all its efforts of acquiring land. Their days are numbered. The acquisition can be conducted only after the current Act is amended,&rdquo; said Banerjee at a press conference on Saturday.</font><br /><br /><font >She said that she expressed her views to the Centre that land should not be acquired by the government for private industrial projects. Only in case of public purpose - like transport, irrigation, and government usage - the state government will be allowed to acquire land. Moreover, land for public purposes should be acquired amicably from the farmers, without applying any force.</font><br /><br /><font >&ldquo;I have information that the state government is planning to acquire more land in various places, including Rajarhat. I would urge the people to stand up fearlessly against any such move. The days of the Left Front government are numbered, it is only few more months,&rdquo; she said.</font><br /><br /><font >Clarifying the statement she had made at the Rajarhat rally, Banerjee said that she had urged the state government to allot 10 per cent of the developed land to the affected and dispossessed farmers. But the government misinterpreted her view, she said.</font><br /><br /><font >&ldquo;The proposal was based on my view about the compensation package for the affected farmers. This should be followed everywhere in the country, not only in Rajarhat. The CPM is trying to vitiate the idea by saying that this formula should also be applied in the Singur case also. But Singur is a different case. Farmers of 400-acre land refused to accept money. They are unwilling farmers. I fought for them. Still I stick to my stand that these farmers should be returned 400 acres of land and then the industry should be started,&rdquo; she said</font><br /><br /></div>

                            <font ><br /></font><div align="justify"><font >Reiterating her stand on the Rajarhat land issue, Trinamool Congress chief and Railway Minister Mamata Banerjee on Saturday asked the Left Front government to put on hold all land acquisition in the new township till the Land Acquisition Act 1894 is amended.</font><br /><br /><font >She said, she has communicated her view to the government about the changes in the current Act.</font><br /><br /><font >&ldquo;The state government should stop all its efforts of acquiring land. Their days are numbered. The acquisition can be conducted only after the current Act is amended,&rdquo; said Banerjee at a press conference on Saturday.</font><br /><br /><font >She said that she expressed her views to the Centre that land should not be acquired by the government for private industrial projects. Only in case of public purpose - like transport, irrigation, and government usage - the state government will be allowed to acquire land. Moreover, land for public purposes should be acquired amicably from the farmers, without applying any force.</font><br /><br /><font >&ldquo;I have information that the state government is planning to acquire more land in various places, including Rajarhat. I would urge the people to stand up fearlessly against any such move. The days of the Left Front government are numbered, it is only few more months,&rdquo; she said.</font><br /><br /><font >Clarifying the statement she had made at the Rajarhat rally, Banerjee said that she had urged the state government to allot 10 per cent of the developed land to the affected and dispossessed farmers. But the government misinterpreted her view, she said.</font><br /><br /><font >&ldquo;The proposal was based on my view about the compensation package for the affected farmers. This should be followed everywhere in the country, not only in Rajarhat. The CPM is trying to vitiate the idea by saying that this formula should also be applied in the Singur case also. But Singur is a different case. Farmers of 400-acre land refused to accept money. They are unwilling farmers. I fought for them. Still I stick to my stand that these farmers should be returned 400 acres of land and then the industry should be started,&rdquo; she said</font><br /><br /></div>

Mamata to govt: Pause all land acquisition for now

Reiterating her stand on the Rajarhat land issue, Trinamool Congress chief and Railway Minister Mamata Banerjee on Saturday asked the Left Front government to put on hold all land acquisition in the new township till the Land Acquisition Act 1894 is amended. She said, she has communicated her view to the government about the changes in the current Act. “The state government should stop all its efforts of acquiring land. Their days are numbered. The acquisition can be conducted only after the current Act is amended,” said Banerjee at a press conference on Saturday. She said that she expressed her views to the Centre that land should not be acquired by the government for private industrial projects. Only in case of public purpose - like transport, irrigation, and government usage - the state government will be allowed to acquire land. Moreover, land for public purposes should be acquired amicably from the farmers, without applying any force. “I have information that the state government is planning to acquire more land in various places, including Rajarhat. I would urge the people to stand up fearlessly against any such move. The days of the Left Front government are numbered, it is only few more months,” she said. Clarifying the statement she had made at the Rajarhat rally, Banerjee said that she had urged the state government to allot 10 per cent of the developed land to the affected and dispossessed farmers. But the government misinterpreted her view, she said. “The proposal was based on my view about the compensation package for the affected farmers. This should be followed everywhere in the country, not only in Rajarhat. The CPM is trying to vitiate the idea by saying that this formula should also be applied in the Singur case also. But Singur is a different case. Farmers of 400-acre land refused to accept money. They are unwilling farmers. I fought for them. Still I stick to my stand that these farmers should be returned 400 acres of land and then the industry should be started,” she said
