                            <div align="justify">Vishnu Medhkar (34) has filed a police complaint alleging that he was beaten up after seeking information about a Turbhe-based stone quarry workers' association under the Right To Information (RTI) Act. <br /><br />A resident of Turbhe, Vishnu claimed that he was thrashed on Saturday evening by three family members of a local Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) corporator, Amit Medhkar. &quot;Between 6.45 pm and 7 pm, I was assaulted by Amit's father Amrut and his two relatives. The men kicked me and broke a glass bottle on my head.'' <br /><br />Amit, a Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) corporator, denied his family's involvement in the attack. Amrut told TOI on Monday, &quot;I have not assaulted him (Vishnu). He had a tiff with my brother Amar, but it has nothing to do with his RTI query.&quot; <br /><br />A badly bruised Vishnu said: &quot;Despite submitting a copy of the doctor's certificate, the Turbhe police have registered only a non-cognizable complaint under Sections 323 and 504 of the Indian Penal Code for assault and intentional insult to provoke breach of peace.&quot; <br /><br />Demanding that the police register an FIR, he said, &quot;I was assaulted because I had filed an RTI query at the Thane collectorate and the TDR office on Vanjari Quarry Workers' Association.&quot; <br /><br />Explaining the motive behind his RTI application, Vishnu said, &quot;My family members, including my mother, have been members of the quarry workers' association since 1975, but have not received proper aid or benefits. I had sought information about the quarry's accounts and functioning.&quot;</div>

                            <div align="justify">Vishnu Medhkar (34) has filed a police complaint alleging that he was beaten up after seeking information about a Turbhe-based stone quarry workers' association under the Right To Information (RTI) Act. <br /><br />A resident of Turbhe, Vishnu claimed that he was thrashed on Saturday evening by three family members of a local Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) corporator, Amit Medhkar. &quot;Between 6.45 pm and 7 pm, I was assaulted by Amit's father Amrut and his two relatives. The men kicked me and broke a glass bottle on my head.'' <br /><br />Amit, a Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) corporator, denied his family's involvement in the attack. Amrut told TOI on Monday, &quot;I have not assaulted him (Vishnu). He had a tiff with my brother Amar, but it has nothing to do with his RTI query.&quot; <br /><br />A badly bruised Vishnu said: &quot;Despite submitting a copy of the doctor's certificate, the Turbhe police have registered only a non-cognizable complaint under Sections 323 and 504 of the Indian Penal Code for assault and intentional insult to provoke breach of peace.&quot; <br /><br />Demanding that the police register an FIR, he said, &quot;I was assaulted because I had filed an RTI query at the Thane collectorate and the TDR office on Vanjari Quarry Workers' Association.&quot; <br /><br />Explaining the motive behind his RTI application, Vishnu said, &quot;My family members, including my mother, have been members of the quarry workers' association since 1975, but have not received proper aid or benefits. I had sought information about the quarry's accounts and functioning.&quot;</div>

                            <div align="justify">Vishnu Medhkar (34) has filed a police complaint alleging that he was beaten up after seeking information about a Turbhe-based stone quarry workers' association under the Right To Information (RTI) Act. <br /><br />A resident of Turbhe, Vishnu claimed that he was thrashed on Saturday evening by three family members of a local Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) corporator, Amit Medhkar. &quot;Between 6.45 pm and 7 pm, I was assaulted by Amit's father Amrut and his two relatives. The men kicked me and broke a glass bottle on my head.'' <br /><br />Amit, a Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) corporator, denied his family's involvement in the attack. Amrut told TOI on Monday, &quot;I have not assaulted him (Vishnu). He had a tiff with my brother Amar, but it has nothing to do with his RTI query.&quot; <br /><br />A badly bruised Vishnu said: &quot;Despite submitting a copy of the doctor's certificate, the Turbhe police have registered only a non-cognizable complaint under Sections 323 and 504 of the Indian Penal Code for assault and intentional insult to provoke breach of peace.&quot; <br /><br />Demanding that the police register an FIR, he said, &quot;I was assaulted because I had filed an RTI query at the Thane collectorate and the TDR office on Vanjari Quarry Workers' Association.&quot; <br /><br />Explaining the motive behind his RTI application, Vishnu said, &quot;My family members, including my mother, have been members of the quarry workers' association since 1975, but have not received proper aid or benefits. I had sought information about the quarry's accounts and functioning.&quot;</div>

Man thrashed over RTI query in Turbhe by Vijay Singh

Vishnu Medhkar (34) has filed a police complaint alleging that he was beaten up after seeking information about a Turbhe-based stone quarry workers' association under the Right To Information (RTI) Act. A resident of Turbhe, Vishnu claimed that he was thrashed on Saturday evening by three family members of a local Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) corporator, Amit Medhkar. "Between 6.45 pm and 7 pm, I was assaulted by Amit's father Amrut and his two relatives. The men kicked me and broke a glass bottle on my head.'' Amit, a Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) corporator, denied his family's involvement in the attack. Amrut told TOI on Monday, "I have not assaulted him (Vishnu). He had a tiff with my brother Amar, but it has nothing to do with his RTI query." A badly bruised Vishnu said: "Despite submitting a copy of the doctor's certificate, the Turbhe police have registered only a non-cognizable complaint under Sections 323 and 504 of the Indian Penal Code for assault and intentional insult to provoke breach of peace." Demanding that the police register an FIR, he said, "I was assaulted because I had filed an RTI query at the Thane collectorate and the TDR office on Vanjari Quarry Workers' Association." Explaining the motive behind his RTI application, Vishnu said, "My family members, including my mother, have been members of the quarry workers' association since 1975, but have not received proper aid or benefits. I had sought information about the quarry's accounts and functioning."
