National Rural Health Mission appoints 42 additional doctors

KOZHIKODE: The National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) has appointed 42 additional doctors in the rural areas on temporary basis in the wake of rain-related diseases being reported from various parts of the district, according to NRHM district programme manager Dr A Baburaj.

The doctors thus appointed on an emergency basis have been posted through the NRHM under the compulsory rural service scheme of the state government.

The appointments were made according to vacancies at the hilly and other regions where doctors are reluctant to work.

The places include the primary health centres at Kuttiady, Perambra, Valayam, Nadapuram,Thiruvallur and Orkattary.

Meanwhile, the district health administration here has reported 37 vacant posts of specialists in various health institutions like community health centres, primary health centres and taluk and district hospitals.

The health administration has already reported the vacant posts to the health directorate.

"At present we are able to manage the work. The public won't be able to get the services of specialist doctors if the posts are not filled with permanent appointments," said additional district medical officer M K Appunny.

"The DMO has already taken measures to fill the posts through adhoc appointment," said Appunny.Kozhikode: The National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) has appointed additional doctors in the rural areas to meet the demands of monsoon season. The appointments are made on emergency basis to treat patients during monsoon season.

The doctors have been posted through the NRHM and under the Compulsory Rural Service scheme of the state government. A total of 42 doctors have been appointed at rural areas in the wake of fresh cases of diseases started reporting from various parts of the district with the beginning of monsoon season. The NRHM appointed additional hands at on requirement basis at the hilly region and other region where doctors are not ready to work. The doctors were appointed at Primary Health Centres at Kuttiady, Perambra, Valayam, Nadappuram, Thiruvallur, Orkattary and other rural areas on need basis.

NRHM district programme manager Dr A Baburaj said that the appointments have been made on temporary basis to ensure the presence of doctors during monsoon. He also said the move was taken to ensure the health staff in case of an outbreak.

Meanwhile , the district health administration here has reported 37 vacant posts of specialists in the various health institutions . The vacancies have been reported at various health institutions such as Community Health Centre, government, taluk hospitals, primaryhealth centres and at district hospitals. The Health administration has already reported the vacant posts to the health directory.

Additional District Medical Officer Dr M K Appunny said that there are vacancies of specialty doctors at the health institutions. At present we are able to manage the work. The public wont be able to get the service of specialist doctors if the posts wont fills permanently. The DMO has taken measure to fill the posts through adhoc appointment ,'' said the Additional DMO.
