                            <p align="justify"><font ></font></p><p align="justify"><font >In a day-long operation, the Food Cell police and District Civil Supply officials unearthed over 2,000 litres of kerosene stored in four places, including private godowns here on Tuesday. Seven persons were held while two others are absconding. Collector C. Kamaraj had directed the officials to keep a close vigil on the movement of essential commodities from various godowns to ration shops. &ldquo;The government is keen on ensuring that the PDS items are strictly consumed by eligible ration card-holders. Any unlawful activity such as smuggling or hoarding will be seriously dealt with,&rdquo; he had warned.</font></p><p align="justify"><font >Officials, who received information about 1,400 litres of kerosene being stored in jerry cans at a private godown on Goods Shed Street, raided the premises at around 6 a.m under the leadership of DSP Karthikeyan and District Civil Supply Officer N. Murugiah.</font></p><p align="justify"><font >Based on the confessions of the arrested, it came to light that a gang was indulging in collection of kerosene (in small quantities) from various sources under fictitious names and ration cards. The ration shop price is Rs. 11.60 per litre while the gang was re-selling it at Rs 30 per litre. Sometimes, they sell it at even Rs. 40 per litre.</font></p><p align="justify"><font >In another check at Keezha Thope, S.S. Colony Balu Street and at Sundararajapuram, the teams seized over 800 litres. They found that some ration shop salesmen were procuring and selling the goods by using fictitious names/ ration cards.</font></p><p align="justify"><font ></font></p>

                            <p align="justify"><font ></font></p><p align="justify"><font >In a day-long operation, the Food Cell police and District Civil Supply officials unearthed over 2,000 litres of kerosene stored in four places, including private godowns here on Tuesday. Seven persons were held while two others are absconding. Collector C. Kamaraj had directed the officials to keep a close vigil on the movement of essential commodities from various godowns to ration shops. &ldquo;The government is keen on ensuring that the PDS items are strictly consumed by eligible ration card-holders. Any unlawful activity such as smuggling or hoarding will be seriously dealt with,&rdquo; he had warned.</font></p><p align="justify"><font >Officials, who received information about 1,400 litres of kerosene being stored in jerry cans at a private godown on Goods Shed Street, raided the premises at around 6 a.m under the leadership of DSP Karthikeyan and District Civil Supply Officer N. Murugiah.</font></p><p align="justify"><font >Based on the confessions of the arrested, it came to light that a gang was indulging in collection of kerosene (in small quantities) from various sources under fictitious names and ration cards. The ration shop price is Rs. 11.60 per litre while the gang was re-selling it at Rs 30 per litre. Sometimes, they sell it at even Rs. 40 per litre.</font></p><p align="justify"><font >In another check at Keezha Thope, S.S. Colony Balu Street and at Sundararajapuram, the teams seized over 800 litres. They found that some ration shop salesmen were procuring and selling the goods by using fictitious names/ ration cards.</font></p><p align="justify"><font ></font></p>

                            <p align="justify"><font ></font></p><p align="justify"><font >In a day-long operation, the Food Cell police and District Civil Supply officials unearthed over 2,000 litres of kerosene stored in four places, including private godowns here on Tuesday. Seven persons were held while two others are absconding. Collector C. Kamaraj had directed the officials to keep a close vigil on the movement of essential commodities from various godowns to ration shops. &ldquo;The government is keen on ensuring that the PDS items are strictly consumed by eligible ration card-holders. Any unlawful activity such as smuggling or hoarding will be seriously dealt with,&rdquo; he had warned.</font></p><p align="justify"><font >Officials, who received information about 1,400 litres of kerosene being stored in jerry cans at a private godown on Goods Shed Street, raided the premises at around 6 a.m under the leadership of DSP Karthikeyan and District Civil Supply Officer N. Murugiah.</font></p><p align="justify"><font >Based on the confessions of the arrested, it came to light that a gang was indulging in collection of kerosene (in small quantities) from various sources under fictitious names and ration cards. The ration shop price is Rs. 11.60 per litre while the gang was re-selling it at Rs 30 per litre. Sometimes, they sell it at even Rs. 40 per litre.</font></p><p align="justify"><font >In another check at Keezha Thope, S.S. Colony Balu Street and at Sundararajapuram, the teams seized over 800 litres. They found that some ration shop salesmen were procuring and selling the goods by using fictitious names/ ration cards.</font></p><p align="justify"><font ></font></p>

Over 2,000 litres of kerosene seized

In a day-long operation, the Food Cell police and District Civil Supply officials unearthed over 2,000 litres of kerosene stored in four places, including private godowns here on Tuesday. Seven persons were held while two others are absconding. Collector C. Kamaraj had directed the officials to keep a close vigil on the movement of essential commodities from various godowns to ration shops. “The government is keen on ensuring that the PDS items are strictly consumed by eligible ration card-holders. Any unlawful activity such as smuggling or hoarding will be seriously dealt with,” he had warned. Officials, who received information about 1,400 litres of kerosene being stored in jerry cans at a private godown on Goods Shed Street, raided the premises at around 6 a.m under the leadership of DSP Karthikeyan and District Civil Supply Officer N. Murugiah. Based on the confessions of the arrested, it came to light that a gang was indulging in collection of kerosene (in small quantities) from various sources under fictitious names and ration cards. The ration shop price is Rs. 11.60 per litre while the gang was re-selling it at Rs 30 per litre. Sometimes, they sell it at even Rs. 40 per litre. In another check at Keezha Thope, S.S. Colony Balu Street and at Sundararajapuram, the teams seized over 800 litres. They found that some ration shop salesmen were procuring and selling the goods by using fictitious names/ ration cards.
