                            <div align="justify"><font >THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The State government will seek a review of the Supreme Court order restricting distribution of foodgrains under the public distribution system (PDS) to families living below the poverty line.<br /><br />Speaking to the media after a meeting of the Cabinet on Thursday, Chief Minister V.S. Achuthanandan said that besides filing a review petition before the court, Kerala would ask the Centre to take measures for retaining the statutory universal rationing system. It would convene an all-party meet soon to discuss the future course of action.<br /><br />The scheme for supply of rice at Rs.2 a kg would be extended to five lakh more people belonging to unorganised sectors.<br /><br />The Cabinet also decided to issue an ultimatum to the promoters of SmartCity Kochi on taking up the project work.<br /><br />The Chief Minister said that notice would be issued to TECOM chief executive officer (CEO) Abdullatif AlMulla and SmartCity CEO Fareed Abdul Rahman seeking their response within 15 days. Rejecting the demands of the promoters over &lsquo;free hold,' the notice, approved by the Cabinet, would clarify that the &lsquo;free hold' proposed in the agreement was not transferable and would be within the economic free zone.<br /><br />The project has been stalled for nearly three years now. The Chief Minister said that the Cabinet had given clearance in principle for a greenfield airport at Aranmula in Pathanamthitta district subject to conditions. The promoters (KGS Aranmula Airport Limited) should find land for themselves and fulfil legal requirements for starting the airport.<br /><br />Heritage projects<br /><br />The Cabinet approved a heritage circuit tourism project for Thalassery costing Rs.198 crore. Of this, Rs.148 crore would be spent by the State. The Centre would provide the balance as assistance. The Cabinet sanctioned a heritage circuit tourism project for Alappuzha also.</font></div>

                            <div align="justify"><font >THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The State government will seek a review of the Supreme Court order restricting distribution of foodgrains under the public distribution system (PDS) to families living below the poverty line.<br /><br />Speaking to the media after a meeting of the Cabinet on Thursday, Chief Minister V.S. Achuthanandan said that besides filing a review petition before the court, Kerala would ask the Centre to take measures for retaining the statutory universal rationing system. It would convene an all-party meet soon to discuss the future course of action.<br /><br />The scheme for supply of rice at Rs.2 a kg would be extended to five lakh more people belonging to unorganised sectors.<br /><br />The Cabinet also decided to issue an ultimatum to the promoters of SmartCity Kochi on taking up the project work.<br /><br />The Chief Minister said that notice would be issued to TECOM chief executive officer (CEO) Abdullatif AlMulla and SmartCity CEO Fareed Abdul Rahman seeking their response within 15 days. Rejecting the demands of the promoters over &lsquo;free hold,' the notice, approved by the Cabinet, would clarify that the &lsquo;free hold' proposed in the agreement was not transferable and would be within the economic free zone.<br /><br />The project has been stalled for nearly three years now. The Chief Minister said that the Cabinet had given clearance in principle for a greenfield airport at Aranmula in Pathanamthitta district subject to conditions. The promoters (KGS Aranmula Airport Limited) should find land for themselves and fulfil legal requirements for starting the airport.<br /><br />Heritage projects<br /><br />The Cabinet approved a heritage circuit tourism project for Thalassery costing Rs.198 crore. Of this, Rs.148 crore would be spent by the State. The Centre would provide the balance as assistance. The Cabinet sanctioned a heritage circuit tourism project for Alappuzha also.</font></div>

                            <div align="justify"><font >THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The State government will seek a review of the Supreme Court order restricting distribution of foodgrains under the public distribution system (PDS) to families living below the poverty line.<br /><br />Speaking to the media after a meeting of the Cabinet on Thursday, Chief Minister V.S. Achuthanandan said that besides filing a review petition before the court, Kerala would ask the Centre to take measures for retaining the statutory universal rationing system. It would convene an all-party meet soon to discuss the future course of action.<br /><br />The scheme for supply of rice at Rs.2 a kg would be extended to five lakh more people belonging to unorganised sectors.<br /><br />The Cabinet also decided to issue an ultimatum to the promoters of SmartCity Kochi on taking up the project work.<br /><br />The Chief Minister said that notice would be issued to TECOM chief executive officer (CEO) Abdullatif AlMulla and SmartCity CEO Fareed Abdul Rahman seeking their response within 15 days. Rejecting the demands of the promoters over &lsquo;free hold,' the notice, approved by the Cabinet, would clarify that the &lsquo;free hold' proposed in the agreement was not transferable and would be within the economic free zone.<br /><br />The project has been stalled for nearly three years now. The Chief Minister said that the Cabinet had given clearance in principle for a greenfield airport at Aranmula in Pathanamthitta district subject to conditions. The promoters (KGS Aranmula Airport Limited) should find land for themselves and fulfil legal requirements for starting the airport.<br /><br />Heritage projects<br /><br />The Cabinet approved a heritage circuit tourism project for Thalassery costing Rs.198 crore. Of this, Rs.148 crore would be spent by the State. The Centre would provide the balance as assistance. The Cabinet sanctioned a heritage circuit tourism project for Alappuzha also.</font></div>

PDS: State for review of court order

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The State government will seek a review of the Supreme Court order restricting distribution of foodgrains under the public distribution system (PDS) to families living below the poverty line. Speaking to the media after a meeting of the Cabinet on Thursday, Chief Minister V.S. Achuthanandan said that besides filing a review petition before the court, Kerala would ask the Centre to take measures for retaining the statutory universal rationing system. It would convene an all-party meet soon to discuss the future course of action. The scheme for supply of rice at Rs.2 a kg would be extended to five lakh more people belonging to unorganised sectors. The Cabinet also decided to issue an ultimatum to the promoters of SmartCity Kochi on taking up the project work. The Chief Minister said that notice would be issued to TECOM chief executive officer (CEO) Abdullatif AlMulla and SmartCity CEO Fareed Abdul Rahman seeking their response within 15 days. Rejecting the demands of the promoters over ‘free hold,' the notice, approved by the Cabinet, would clarify that the ‘free hold' proposed in the agreement was not transferable and would be within the economic free zone. The project has been stalled for nearly three years now. The Chief Minister said that the Cabinet had given clearance in principle for a greenfield airport at Aranmula in Pathanamthitta district subject to conditions. The promoters (KGS Aranmula Airport Limited) should find land for themselves and fulfil legal requirements for starting the airport. Heritage projects The Cabinet approved a heritage circuit tourism project for Thalassery costing Rs.198 crore. Of this, Rs.148 crore would be spent by the State. The Centre would provide the balance as assistance. The Cabinet sanctioned a heritage circuit tourism project for Alappuzha also.
