The plan outlay for 2011-12 for Andhra Pradesh has been fixed at Rs.43,000 crore, which is 17 per cent more than last year's (2010-11) outlay of Rs.36,800 crore.

This was decided at the meeting held by Chief Minister N. Kiran KumarReddy and his team of officials here on Friday with Planning CommissionDeputy Chairman Montek Singh Ahluwalia and his officers.

During the deliberations, Dr. Ahluwalia commended the Andhra Pradesh government by stating that its economic performance was better than mostof the other States.

“The State has been doing well in social sector development and also creating investor-friendly environment. Efforts to involve private sector in infrastructure development should continue.”

The Commission was working out a sustainable water management policy for the 12th Plan and would expect States like Andhra Pradesh to presenttheir views and experience during regional consultations which the Commission would be initiating shortly.

The States would also be expected to suggest on skill development which was likely to gain importance during the 12 {+t} {+h} Plan period.

Andhra Pradesh had done “appreciable work” in reducing power transmission and distribution losses, Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Programme, social audit, and gender budgeting.
