New Delhi: Constable claims seniors instructed him to hand Rs 2,000 to girl's father.

The Delhi Police on Wednesday claimed to have identified the policeman who allegedly offered a bribe of Rs 2,000 to the family of the five-year-old rape victim.

According to Vigilance Wing officers, the constable was identified by the child's father. The constable reportedly told investigators that he had offered the money to the family at the behest of his seniors.

"The constable had given the child's father Rs 2,000 after his seniors instructed him to do so. We cannot reveal the identity of the constable at the moment as a vigilance inquiry is on," a police officer said.

The Vigilance Wing is expected to submit a report in this regard on Thursday.

The victim's father had last Friday alleged that a policeman offered him money when he had approached an East Delhi police station regarding the rape of his child.

"He told me nothing will happen by involving the public. He also said I should take care of the child and be with her. He then handed me Rs 2,000 and left. He said I should cover my expenses with this money," the child's father had said.

Police Commissioner Neeraj Kumar on Monday said there was delay in identifying the two policemen who allegedly offered money to hush up the case - one in uniform and another in plain clothes - as the father of the girl could not come to the police station since he was in the hospital with his daughter.

Kumar had said the personnel from the police station will visit the father in AIIMS so that the erring personnel could be identified.

"As soon as they are identified, they will be suspended from service and a vigilance inquiry will follow. On the basis of the inquiry, a regular departmental inquiry would be conducted," Kumar had said.

On Tuesday, police had reportedly shown photographs of 13 policemen to the father, who identified the constable.

Police are yet to register a case against the Assistant Commissioner of Police B S Ahlawat who was caught on camera slapping a woman protester outside Swami Dayanand Hospital, where the child was initially admitted. Police have also not conducted a test-identification parade of the two arrested on charges of raping the child.

"We have not registered a case against the ACP who was caught slapping female protesters. As for TIP, we can only conduct it after the girl is fit enough to identify them," Special CP (Law and Order) Deepak Mishra said.

Meanwhile, doctors in AIIMS said the child is stable and her perineal wounds were healing well. "The child is not feverish. Her vital parameters are normal and her general condition is stable. Her urine output is normal and colostomy is functioning well," Medical Superintendent of AIIMS Dr D K Sharma said.

"She was examined and her wounds redressed under general anaesthesia on Tuesday. Her perineal injuries are healing well," he said.

Fresh production warrant for Manoj issued

Fresh production warrant was issued by a city court on Wednesday for Manoj Kumar Sah, the main accused of the rape of a five-year-old girl in East Delhi last week.

The fresh warrant was issued after the court was told that Manoj could not be produced on Wednesday as the Tihar Jail authorities had not received the warrants in time.
