Rs 600 crore allocated for Crop-affected Farmers

As a part of Statewide visit in crop affected areas, the Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan today reached Daiyarpur village in Vidisha district and comforted crop affected farmers. He informed that the State Government has increased relief amount from Rs 500 crore to Rs 600crore in order to extend maximum financial help to crop affected farmers. No different yardstick will be applied in distribution works. Every affected farmers will be given justice in relief on loss to crop by severest cold and frost. No dereliction of duty will be tolerated by the State Government in this respect, the Chief Minister said.
 
Lends An Ear To Farmers' Grievances, Instructs Officials
 
The Chief Minister Shri Chouhan's visit was to assimilate into crop affected areas. He patiently heard the grievances of farmers and also inquired about the process of distribution relief. The Chief Minister was apprised of crop loss of Rs 27 crore 67 lakh in the district. Shri Chouhan informed that a sum of Rs 5.5crore has been sanctioned for Vidisha district. There is no reluctance in distributing relief to each and every affected farmer. The work of distribution is in progress.

Exchequer Opened For Farmers

The Chief Minister informed that his government has opened its exchequer for bailing out the farmers from crop crisis. No sooner did information about loss to crop reach than the government machinery has been put on spur with monitoring the situation. The Government wants to extend all possible help to the farmers. The recovery of loan has been suspended and interest will be paid by the government for one year. The farmers will be provided loan at the rate of one percent from next year. Besides, the Government will recover the loss to banks. The farmers will be given seeds and fertilisers on the basis of input. The Chief Minister informed that he has written a letter to Prime Minister mentioning that the loss of farmers can not be compensated. Therefore, Madhya Pradesh should be remitted a package to meet the crisis. The farmers should be taken into Crop Insurance Yojna.

Survey To Be Conducted Again At Left Areas

Chief Minister Shri Chouhan assured the farmers that survey would be conducted again at the field areas, which were left unknowingly for relief. The Chief Minister asked the collector to distribute cheques of relief payment in lieu of cash to the farmers so as to avoid any irregularities in distribution works. The collector has been told to monitor himself whole process of distribution. Chief Minister said that not only 'Tuar' crop but wheat crop has also been wreaked by severe cold and frost. All these should be kept in mind at the time of loss assessment.

Financial Help To Three Villagers

While interacting to the Chief Minister, three villagers urged him for financial help to get medical treatment. Shri Chouhan, at once, instructed the collector to give an estimate of treatment. On this occasion, State Mining Development Corporation Chairman Shri Koksingh Narvaria and local MLAs Shri Harisingh Sapre and Shri Harisingh Raghuvanshi and senior administrative officials were present.
 
Rs 6 crore 35 lakh allocated to three districts

The process to extend assistance to frost and cold-affected farmers is going on.

In the series, Commissioner Relief has allocated Rs 6 crore 35 lakh for providing relief to the farmers of Damoh and Guna (Rs 3 crore each) Balaghat (Rs 35 lakh).
 
No revenue recovery on more than 25 per cent crop loss
 
The state government has decided to waive recovery of revenue for the year 2011 from all the accountholder farmers, whose rabi crops have suffered more than 25 per cent loss due to cold wave and frost. All the district collectors have been instructed to ensure immediate action in this connection under the rules of Madhya Pradesh Land Revenue Code.
