                            <p style="text-align:justify">-ThePrint.in</p><p style="text-align:justify"><em>There&rsquo;s been a 40% decline in disposal of cases during pandemic, a report mapping district courts&rsquo; performance showed. &nbsp;The study was conducted by a Delhi-based think-tank.&nbsp;</em></p><p style="text-align:justify"><em>New Delhi: </em>The pandemic has severely affected the justice delivery system in India, causing a sharp decline in the disposal of cases, &nbsp;a study mapping the performance of district courts during the pandemic shows.&nbsp;</p><p style="text-align:justify">In its latest report called &lsquo;<a href="https://vidhilegalpolicy.in/research/data-speak/" title="https://vidhilegalpolicy.in/research/data-speak/">Data Speak:</a> <a href="https://vidhilegalpolicy.in/research/data-speak/" title="https://vidhilegalpolicy.in/research/data-speak/">A look at the District</a> <a href="https://vidhilegalpolicy.in/research/data-speak/" title="https://vidhilegalpolicy.in/research/data-speak/">Courts&rsquo; Performance</a>&rsquo;, Vidhi Centre for Legal Policy says that the pandemic years of 2020-2021 saw a sharp 42.33 per cent fall in the disposal of cases.</p><p style="text-align:justify">The report was released on 22 November.&nbsp;</p><p style="text-align:justify">The study, which aims to understand the accessibility and efficiency of the district courts, reveals startling data about the case-filing trends during the pandemic, disposal of cases, courts&rsquo; priorities, decongestion of prisons, execution petitions, and justice for juveniles.</p><p style="text-align:justify">The report, compiled on the basis of raw data from the National Judicial Data Grid &mdash; a government platform under the e-Courts project &mdash; for the period between 2018 and 2021, also challenges the idea that India&rsquo;s a global leader in virtual hearings.&nbsp;</p><p style="text-align:justify">Please <a href="https://theprint.in/judiciary/sharp-decline-in-disposal-increased-pendency-how-pandemic-affected-district-courts-in-india/1270675/" title="https://theprint.in/judiciary/sharp-decline-in-disposal-increased-pendency-how-pandemic-affected-district-courts-in-india/1270675/">click here</a> to read more.</p>

                            <p style="text-align:justify">-ThePrint.in</p><p style="text-align:justify"><em>There&rsquo;s been a 40% decline in disposal of cases during pandemic, a report mapping district courts&rsquo; performance showed. &nbsp;The study was conducted by a Delhi-based think-tank.&nbsp;</em></p><p style="text-align:justify"><em>New Delhi: </em>The pandemic has severely affected the justice delivery system in India, causing a sharp decline in the disposal of cases, &nbsp;a study mapping the performance of district courts during the pandemic shows.&nbsp;</p><p style="text-align:justify">In its latest report called &lsquo;<a href="https://vidhilegalpolicy.in/research/data-speak/" title="https://vidhilegalpolicy.in/research/data-speak/">Data Speak:</a> <a href="https://vidhilegalpolicy.in/research/data-speak/" title="https://vidhilegalpolicy.in/research/data-speak/">A look at the District</a> <a href="https://vidhilegalpolicy.in/research/data-speak/" title="https://vidhilegalpolicy.in/research/data-speak/">Courts&rsquo; Performance</a>&rsquo;, Vidhi Centre for Legal Policy says that the pandemic years of 2020-2021 saw a sharp 42.33 per cent fall in the disposal of cases.</p><p style="text-align:justify">The report was released on 22 November.&nbsp;</p><p style="text-align:justify">The study, which aims to understand the accessibility and efficiency of the district courts, reveals startling data about the case-filing trends during the pandemic, disposal of cases, courts&rsquo; priorities, decongestion of prisons, execution petitions, and justice for juveniles.</p><p style="text-align:justify">The report, compiled on the basis of raw data from the National Judicial Data Grid &mdash; a government platform under the e-Courts project &mdash; for the period between 2018 and 2021, also challenges the idea that India&rsquo;s a global leader in virtual hearings.&nbsp;</p><p style="text-align:justify">Please <a href="https://theprint.in/judiciary/sharp-decline-in-disposal-increased-pendency-how-pandemic-affected-district-courts-in-india/1270675/" title="https://theprint.in/judiciary/sharp-decline-in-disposal-increased-pendency-how-pandemic-affected-district-courts-in-india/1270675/">click here</a> to read more.</p>

Sharp decline in disposal, increased pendency -- how pandemic affected district courts in India -Akshat Jain

-ThePrint.in There’s been a 40% decline in disposal of cases during pandemic, a report mapping district courts’ performance showed.  The study was conducted by a Delhi-based think-tank.  New Delhi: The pandemic has severely affected the justice delivery system in India, causing a sharp decline in the disposal of cases,  a study mapping the performance of district courts during the pandemic shows.  In its latest report called ‘Data Speak: A look at the District Courts’ Performance’, Vidhi Centre for Legal Policy says that the pandemic years of 2020-2021 saw a sharp 42.33 per cent fall in the disposal of cases. The report was released on 22 November.  The study, which aims to understand the accessibility and efficiency of the district courts, reveals startling data about the case-filing trends during the pandemic, disposal of cases, courts’ priorities, decongestion of prisons, execution petitions, and justice for juveniles. The report, compiled on the basis of raw data from the National Judicial Data Grid — a government platform under the e-Courts project — for the period between 2018 and 2021, also challenges the idea that India’s a global leader in virtual hearings.  Please click here to read more.
