HRD Minister Kapil Sibal today said a software has been developed for making the recruitment process of government school teachers more transparent.

"A software for transparent teacher recruitment has been prepared," he said while addressing the valedictory session of the state School Education Secretaries' conference here.

He also asked the secretaries to ensure transparency in the recruitment process which has often faced criticism from various quarters.Pointing out that the Centre had allocated additional funds for the states for implementation of Right to Education (RTE) Act, he asked them to work towards ensuring appropriate teacher qualifications and infrastructure norms as mandated by the RTE.

The RTE has given the government, which manages the government school system, a unique opportunity to raise the level of elementary education in the country so that the future human resource needs are met, he said.

During the session, a presentation was made on education of equitable quality and about revised teacher qualifications, said an official release.

The two-day meet also held extensive deliberations on the mid-day meal scheme, with several states seeking additional support in proper implementation of the programme.
