The Mamata Banerjee-led West Bengal govt has decided to cancel the Question Hour during the upcoming state assembly session.

Kolkata: The Trinamool Congress may have been on the warpath against the BJP over the Modi government's decision to cancel Question Hour during the upcoming Monsoon Session of Parliament, but its own government in West Bengal has followed exactly the same path-to cancel the Question Hour.

Speaker of West Bengal Legislative Assembly Biman Bandopadhyay confirmed the development on Friday.

Speaking to India Today TV he said, "It (Question Hour) is not possible in such a short time. I don't want to keep our lawmakers inside for long due to health concerns. No legislative assembly in the country is conducting prolonged sessions."

On Thursday, the Speaker had announced that a curtailed two-day Monsoon Session of the state assembly will be conducted next week starting on September 9.
