New Delhi: As they bask in the post-poll glory, issues like water, education and unauthorised colonies figure high on the winning candidates' agenda.

26-year-old Prakash who left a managerial job in a private company to join the Aam Aadmi Party credited his win to "lack of works done by his predecessors".

Prakash dealt a severe blow to Congress and BJP in the polls by amassing 51,646 votes from Deoli constituency in south Delhi, and said, "Now the work will begin."

"People from these big parties like BJP and Congress have lost because they have not done their job they were elected for. Water, education is going to by my primary agenda right now," he said.

Sporting a AAP cap with its trademark broom and surrounded by doting supporters who carried him on their shoulders amidst chants of "Aam Aadmi Party Zindabad!", Prakash counted Arvind Kejriwal as the inspiration to join the party.

"I was inspired by his life. If he could leave behind his comfortable job for the country, why couldn't I," he said.

Ambedkar Nagar AAP candidate Ashok Kumar turned out be another giant-killer as he drubbed MLA Prem Singh who held the Guinness Book of Records for having never had lost any election since 1958.

While 53-year-old Kumar bagged 36,239 votes, BJP finished second with 24,569 and Congress's heavyweight Singh with 19,753 votes respectively. The AAP candidate-elect also said that water, roads, security and sewerage were the pressing issues in his constituency.

Constituencies like Badarpur, Tughlaqabad and Sangam Vihar in South Delhi where unauthorised colonies remained a poll plank, the newly-elected candidates said, "They will start working on the issue."

BJP's Ramesh Bidhuri who retained his Tughlaqabad seat and Rambir Singh Bidhuri who toppled BSP's Ram Singh Netaji also echoed similar post-poll sentiments.

"Water remains a big issue in this constituency apart from unauthorised colonies. And, people have shown faith in me, and my work will continue from here," Ramesh Bidhuri said.

AAP candidate-elect from Sangam Vihar Dinesh Mohaniya, who defeated BJP's Shiv Charan Lal and Congress' Jag Pravesh, said, "Our constituency has so many unauthorised colonies, a large vote-bank and hence work has to be done for their betterment."
