Over the years, increasing population, growing industrialization, expanding agriculture and rising standards of living have pushed up the demand for water

By 2025, India will be a water-scarce country, said a recent report released by EA Water. The report goes on to list how our excessive dependence on water resources, especially groundwater ones is creating a major issue, as we are drawing much more than that can be replenished. This is going to be a major issue in the days to come. 

Little wonder, everyone seems to be conscious of the great challenge that confronts us on the water front.  In fact, late last year Prime Minister Narendra Modi requested the ministry of Water Resources to identify possible river Inter-linking projects immediately. The PM called for comprehensive mapping and identification of water bodies across the country. He said that satellite imagery and 3-D photography could be used to guide villages to the best sources of irrigation.
