However, agriculture officials feel that the delay in announcing wheat MSP for rabi season might deter farmers.</div><div style="text-align: justify"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify">&quot;We don't see a drop in wheat acreage this year and the production should clock similar to that of previous year's 93.90 million tonne. It will be too early to say that the area will increase as sowing is still underway ,&quot; said Mukesh Khullar, joint secretary (crops) and mission director for National Food Security Mission.</div><div style="text-align: justify"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify">As on date, over 60-70 % of wheat sowing is finished across the north hill zone of Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir. According to state government officials, 60% of the sowing will be done by November 15 across the north western region of Punjab , Haryana, Rajasthan, western Uttar Pradesh and Uttrakhand.</div><div style="text-align: justify"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify">According to Indu Sharma, head of Karnal-based Directorate of Wheat Research, wheat acreage in some parts of the country might increase owing to good availability of water and favourable weather.</div><div style="text-align: justify"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify">&quot;In Madhya Pradesh, where farmers were given Rs 100 bonus by the state government, we expect the acreage to increase. However, agriculture officials feel that the delay in announcing wheat MSP for rabi season might deter farmers.</div><div style="text-align: justify"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify">&quot;We don't see a drop in wheat acreage this year and the production should clock similar to that of previous year's 93.90 million tonne. It will be too early to say that the area will increase as sowing is still underway ,&quot; said Mukesh Khullar, joint secretary (crops) and mission director for National Food Security Mission.</div><div style="text-align: justify"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify">As on date, over 60-70 % of wheat sowing is finished across the north hill zone of Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir. According to state government officials, 60% of the sowing will be done by November 15 across the north western region of Punjab , Haryana, Rajasthan, western Uttar Pradesh and Uttrakhand.</div><div style="text-align: justify"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify">According to Indu Sharma, head of Karnal-based Directorate of Wheat Research, wheat acreage in some parts of the country might increase owing to good availability of water and favourable weather.</div><div style="text-align: justify"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify">&quot;In Madhya Pradesh, where farmers were given Rs 100 bonus by the state government, we expect the acreage to increase. However, area might fall in some parts of the country where monsoon rain was weak,&quot; she said.</div><div style="text-align: justify"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify">In Madhya Pradesh , area under rabi crop is expected to go up by 5% with full water reservoirs at 10.4 million hectare this season. &quot;We expect acreage under wheat to increase by 4.5 lakh hectare this rabi season and production by 10% at 14 million tonne,&quot; says MM Upadhyay , additional chief secretarycum-agricultural production commissioner.&nbsp;</div>

However, agriculture officials feel that the delay in announcing wheat MSP for rabi season might deter farmers.</div><div style="text-align: justify"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify">&quot;We don't see a drop in wheat acreage this year and the production should clock similar to that of previous year's 93.90 million tonne. It will be too early to say that the area will increase as sowing is still underway ,&quot; said Mukesh Khullar, joint secretary (crops) and mission director for National Food Security Mission.</div><div style="text-align: justify"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify">As on date, over 60-70 % of wheat sowing is finished across the north hill zone of Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir. According to state government officials, 60% of the sowing will be done by November 15 across the north western region of Punjab , Haryana, Rajasthan, western Uttar Pradesh and Uttrakhand.</div><div style="text-align: justify"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify">According to Indu Sharma, head of Karnal-based Directorate of Wheat Research, wheat acreage in some parts of the country might increase owing to good availability of water and favourable weather.</div><div style="text-align: justify"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify">&quot;In Madhya Pradesh, where farmers were given Rs 100 bonus by the state government, we expect the acreage to increase. However, area might fall in some parts of the country where monsoon rain was weak,&quot; she said.</div><div style="text-align: justify"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify">In Madhya Pradesh , area under rabi crop is expected to go up by 5% with full water reservoirs at 10.4 million hectare this season. &quot;We expect acreage under wheat to increase by 4.5 lakh hectare this rabi season and production by 10% at 14 million tonne,&quot; says MM Upadhyay , additional chief secretarycum-agricultural production commissioner.&nbsp;</div>

-The Economic Times AHMEDABAD: Wheat output may remain stable this season due to remunerative prices and sufficient water availability. However, agriculture officials feel that the delay in announcing wheat MSP for rabi season might deter farmers. "We don't see a drop in wheat acreage this year and the production should clock similar to that of previous year's 93.90 million tonne. It will be too early to say that the area will increase as sowing is still underway ," said Mukesh Khullar, joint secretary (crops) and mission director for National Food Security Mission. As on date, over 60-70 % of wheat sowing is finished across the north hill zone of Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir. According to state government officials, 60% of the sowing will be done by November 15 across the north western region of Punjab , Haryana, Rajasthan, western Uttar Pradesh and Uttrakhand. According to Indu Sharma, head of Karnal-based Directorate of Wheat Research, wheat acreage in some parts of the country might increase owing to good availability of water and favourable weather. "In Madhya Pradesh, where farmers were given Rs 100 bonus by the state government, we expect the acreage to increase. However, area might fall in some parts of the country where monsoon rain was weak," she said. In Madhya Pradesh , area under rabi crop is expected to go up by 5% with full water reservoirs at 10.4 million hectare this season. "We expect acreage under wheat to increase by 4.5 lakh hectare this rabi season and production by 10% at 14 million tonne," says MM Upadhyay , additional chief secretarycum-agricultural production commissioner.
