Records show that 785 cases were registered across the country under the Prohibition of Child Marriage Act in 2020, the highest in Karnataka at 184. &nbsp;</em></p><p style="text-align:justify">In January this year, a 27-year-old woman approached the Delhi High Court with a plea seeking to treat all child marriages as void ab initio (invalid from the beginning). She was a victim of child marriage and wanted her marriage to be declared invalid.</p><p style="text-align:justify">The woman had been married off when she was 16-and-a-half years old and waiting for her Class10 results in 2010. She lived with her parents till November 2020 when her husband tried to take her to Gujarat forcefully. She was physically assaulted when she resisted.                             <p style="text-align:justify">-IndiaToday.in</p><p style="text-align:justify"><em>NCRB data found a sharp jump in child marriages during the Covid-hit 2020. Records show that 785 cases were registered across the country under the Prohibition of Child Marriage Act in 2020, the highest in Karnataka at 184. &nbsp;</em></p><p style="text-align:justify">In January this year, a 27-year-old woman approached the Delhi High Court with a plea seeking to treat all child marriages as void ab initio (invalid from the beginning). She was a victim of child marriage and wanted her marriage to be declared invalid.</p><p style="text-align:justify">The woman had been married off when she was 16-and-a-half years old and waiting for her Class10 results in 2010. She lived with her parents till November 2020 when her husband tried to take her to Gujarat forcefully. She was physically assaulted when she resisted. Records show that 785 cases were registered across the country under the Prohibition of Child Marriage Act in 2020, the highest in Karnataka at 184. &nbsp;</em></p><p style="text-align:justify">In January this year, a 27-year-old woman approached the Delhi High Court with a plea seeking to treat all child marriages as void ab initio (invalid from the beginning). She was a victim of child marriage and wanted her marriage to be declared invalid.</p><p style="text-align:justify">The woman had been married off when she was 16-and-a-half years old and waiting for her Class10 results in 2010. She lived with her parents till November 2020 when her husband tried to take her to Gujarat forcefully. She was physically assaulted when she resisted. Why child marriage is in focus: Looking at Rajasthan law, Punjab and Haryana HC ruling -Prabhash K Dutta

-IndiaToday.in NCRB data found a sharp jump in child marriages during the Covid-hit 2020. Records show that 785 cases were registered across the country under the Prohibition of Child Marriage Act in 2020, the highest in Karnataka at 184.   In January this year, a 27-year-old woman approached the Delhi High Court with a plea seeking to treat all child marriages as void ab initio (invalid from the beginning). She was a victim of child marriage and wanted her marriage to be declared invalid. The woman had been married off when she was 16-and-a-half years old and waiting for her Class10 results in 2010. She lived with her parents till November 2020 when her husband tried to take her to Gujarat forcefully. She was physically assaulted when she resisted.
