                            <p>-The Telegraph</p><p>&nbsp;</p><div align="justify">Dispur will step up its fight against land grabbers in the city with chief minister Tarun Gogoi making it his government&rsquo;s top priority for 2012 and the Kamrup metro administration activating a helpline from tomorrow to make itself directly accessible to victims.<br /><br />Gogoi, in his third term as chief minister, today said Dispur would lay &ldquo;special focus&rdquo; on implementing the Assam Land Grabbing (Prohibition) Act, 2010, because the problem is more serious than it appears.<br /><br />&ldquo;We have come across a police official-thug nexus in this racket. It is a very serious problem and we need to deal with it accordingly,&rdquo; Gogoi said, indicating a sustained crackdown on offenders.<br /><br />Passed by the state Assembly in 2010, the act received the President&rsquo;s assent in early November last year.<br /><br />It aims at ensuring that offenders face criminal proceedings unlike only civil cases that were slapped on them in the past.<br /><br />Kamrup (metro) deputy commissioner Ashutosh Agnihotri told The Telegraph that with the activation of the helpline, a victim can register his/her complaint directly with him. One can also use the helpline to register hill-cutting cases and other similar grievances, he added.<br /><br />The helpline along with a task force set up to settle land-grabbing cases by the district administration will go a long way in arresting the problem.                             <p>-The Telegraph</p><p>&nbsp;</p><div align="justify">Dispur will step up its fight against land grabbers in the city with chief minister Tarun Gogoi making it his government&rsquo;s top priority for 2012 and the Kamrup metro administration activating a helpline from tomorrow to make itself directly accessible to victims.<br /><br />Gogoi, in his third term as chief minister, today said Dispur would lay &ldquo;special focus&rdquo; on implementing the Assam Land Grabbing (Prohibition) Act, 2010, because the problem is more serious than it appears.<br /><br />&ldquo;We have come across a police official-thug nexus in this racket. It is a very serious problem and we need to deal with it accordingly,&rdquo; Gogoi said, indicating a sustained crackdown on offenders.<br /><br />Passed by the state Assembly in 2010, the act received the President&rsquo;s assent in early November last year.<br /><br />It aims at ensuring that offenders face criminal proceedings unlike only civil cases that were slapped on them in the past.<br /><br />Kamrup (metro) deputy commissioner Ashutosh Agnihotri told The Telegraph that with the activation of the helpline, a victim can register his/her complaint directly with him. One can also use the helpline to register hill-cutting cases and other similar grievances, he added.<br /><br />The helpline along with a task force set up to settle land-grabbing cases by the district administration will go a long way in arresting the problem.                             <p>-The Telegraph</p><p>&nbsp;</p><div align="justify">Dispur will step up its fight against land grabbers in the city with chief minister Tarun Gogoi making it his government&rsquo;s top priority for 2012 and the Kamrup metro administration activating a helpline from tomorrow to make itself directly accessible to victims.<br /><br />Gogoi, in his third term as chief minister, today said Dispur would lay &ldquo;special focus&rdquo; on implementing the Assam Land Grabbing (Prohibition) Act, 2010, because the problem is more serious than it appears.<br /><br />&ldquo;We have come across a police official-thug nexus in this racket. It is a very serious problem and we need to deal with it accordingly,&rdquo; Gogoi said, indicating a sustained crackdown on offenders.<br /><br />Passed by the state Assembly in 2010, the act received the President&rsquo;s assent in early November last year.<br /><br />It aims at ensuring that offenders face criminal proceedings unlike only civil cases that were slapped on them in the past.<br /><br />Kamrup (metro) deputy commissioner Ashutosh Agnihotri told The Telegraph that with the activation of the helpline, a victim can register his/her complaint directly with him. One can also use the helpline to register hill-cutting cases and other similar grievances, he added.<br /><br />The helpline along with a task force set up to settle land-grabbing cases by the district administration will go a long way in arresting the problem. Dial helpline for land-grab cases

-The Telegraph   Dispur will step up its fight against land grabbers in the city with chief minister Tarun Gogoi making it his government’s top priority for 2012 and the Kamrup metro administration activating a helpline from tomorrow to make itself directly accessible to victims. Gogoi, in his third term as chief minister, today said Dispur would lay “special focus” on implementing the Assam Land Grabbing (Prohibition) Act, 2010, because the problem is more serious than it appears. “We have come across a police official-thug nexus in this racket. It is a very serious problem and we need to deal with it accordingly,” Gogoi said, indicating a sustained crackdown on offenders. Passed by the state Assembly in 2010, the act received the President’s assent in early November last year. It aims at ensuring that offenders face criminal proceedings unlike only civil cases that were slapped on them in the past. Kamrup (metro) deputy commissioner Ashutosh Agnihotri told The Telegraph that with the activation of the helpline, a victim can register his/her complaint directly with him. One can also use the helpline to register hill-cutting cases and other similar grievances, he added. The helpline along with a task force set up to settle land-grabbing cases by the district administration will go a long way in arresting the problem.
