The scheme was launched in the city on August 20 by UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi. At the launch, Dikshit had said foodgrain under the scheme would be distributed from September 1.

The Chief Minister distributed foodgrain to beneficiaries in Laxmi Bai Nagar, South Kidwai Nagar, Krishna Menon Marg and Copernicus Marg in central Delhi.
</p>
<p align="justify">
Dikshit said the Delhi government will provide benefits under the scheme to 73.5 lakh people in the city out of a total population of 1.68 crore. In the first phase, the government will distribute foodgrain to 32 lakh beneficiaries.
</p>
<p align="justify">
She said the process of reaching out to the remaining 41 lakh people had already started. &quot;My government is committed to cover all the 73 lakh people under the Food Security Programme by January next year. The parameters for identification of the beneficiaries have to be finalised,&quot; she said.
</p>
<p align="justify">
&quot;The scheme would go a long way in overcoming hunger and alleviation of poverty across the country apart from enhancing the status of women,&quot; Dikshit said, addressing a gathering at Laxmi Bai Nagar.
</p>
<p align="justify">
With Delhi facing elections in November, Dikshit has already asked all Congress MLAs and councillors to help eligible people get the benefits under the scheme.

All BPL families, Above Poverty Line (APL) card holders, Jhuggi Ration Card (JRC) holders and beneficiaries under the Antodaya Anna Yojna (AAY) are being included in the first phase.

The scheme was launched in the city on August 20 by UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi. At the launch, Dikshit had said foodgrain under the scheme would be distributed from September 1.

<p align="justify">
The Chief Minister distributed foodgrain to beneficiaries in Laxmi Bai Nagar, South Kidwai Nagar, Krishna Menon Marg and Copernicus Marg in central Delhi.
</p>
<p align="justify">
Dikshit said the Delhi government will provide benefits under the scheme to 73.5 lakh people in the city out of a total population of 1.68 crore. In the first phase, the government will distribute foodgrain to 32 lakh beneficiaries.
</p>
<p align="justify">
She said the process of reaching out to the remaining 41 lakh people had already started. &quot;My government is committed to cover all the 73 lakh people under the Food Security Programme by January next year. The parameters for identification of the beneficiaries have to be finalised,&quot; she said.
</p>
<p align="justify">
&quot;The scheme would go a long way in overcoming hunger and alleviation of poverty across the country apart from enhancing the status of women,&quot; Dikshit said, addressing a gathering at Laxmi Bai Nagar.
</p>
<p align="justify">
With Delhi facing elections in November, Dikshit has already asked all Congress MLAs and councillors to help eligible people get the benefits under the scheme.

All BPL families, Above Poverty Line (APL) card holders, Jhuggi Ration Card (JRC) holders and beneficiaries under the Antodaya Anna Yojna (AAY) are being included in the first phase.
