Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has appealed to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to take part in Beti Bachao campaign. In a quasi-official letter in this connection, Chouhan has given details about the campaign and appealed to him to take part in it. <br />

Chouhan has informed in his letter that the Beti Bachao campaign is being run in Madhya Pradesh since October 5 with a view to improving girls&rsquo; condition. <br />
<br />
During the campaign, he will himself undertake a Yatra in the districts having poor ratio of girls. The State Government has chalked out an action plan, which envisages curbing embryo killings, observance of Beti Diwas for increasing social status of girls, public felicitation of people adopting girls and girls who have made special achievements and social boycott of the families who demand dowry.<br />
<br />
Efforts for effective implementation of Prevention of Domestic Violence Act and undertaking awareness about father&rsquo;s role in the birth of sons and daughters will also be undertaken. <br />
<br />
Heads of various religions and people&rsquo;s representatives have also been roped in under the campaign. Arrangements have also been made for giving Rs one lakh reward to the person informing about embryo killing, receiving online complaints, disposal of cases within stipulated time limit, monitoring of sonography centres and toll-free phone number of complaints.<br />
<br />
It was mentioned in the letter that punitive action is also being undertaken apart from positive efforts under the campaign. <br />
<br />
The State Medical Council has cancelled registration of two doctors for violating PNDT Act. Besides, measures have also been taken for education-related facilities to families with only daughters, pension at 55 years of age to people living below poverty line and stamp duty concession for joint registry with wife etc.<br />
<br />
Expressing concern over declining sex ratio, Chouhan informed the Prime Minister that Mahila Panchayat was organised in the State in the year 2006.

Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has appealed to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to take part in Beti Bachao campaign. In a quasi-official letter in this connection, Chouhan has given details about the campaign and appealed to him to take part in it. <br />
<br />
Chouhan has informed in his letter that the Beti Bachao campaign is being run in Madhya Pradesh since October 5 with a view to improving girls&rsquo; condition. <br />
<br />
During the campaign, he will himself undertake a Yatra in the districts having poor ratio of girls. The State Government has chalked out an action plan, which envisages curbing embryo killings, observance of Beti Diwas for increasing social status of girls, public felicitation of people adopting girls and girls who have made special achievements and social boycott of the families who demand dowry.<br />
<br />
Efforts for effective implementation of Prevention of Domestic Violence Act and undertaking awareness about father&rsquo;s role in the birth of sons and daughters will also be undertaken. <br />
<br />
Heads of various religions and people&rsquo;s representatives have also been roped in under the campaign. Arrangements have also been made for giving Rs one lakh reward to the person informing about embryo killing, receiving online complaints, disposal of cases within stipulated time limit, monitoring of sonography centres and toll-free phone number of complaints.<br />
<br />
It was mentioned in the letter that punitive action is also being undertaken apart from positive efforts under the campaign. <br />
<br />
The State Medical Council has cancelled registration of two doctors for violating PNDT Act. Besides, measures have also been taken for education-related facilities to families with only daughters, pension at 55 years of age to people living below poverty line and stamp duty concession for joint registry with wife etc.<br />
<br />
Expressing concern over declining sex ratio, Chouhan informed the Prime Minister that Mahila Panchayat was organised in the State in the year 2006.
