A ground report from Kadiri in Anantapur district of Andhra Pradesh, one of the most dry and drought-hit districts in India. In the last 20 years, Anantapur has seen 18 years of a drought of varying degrees. The last five years have recorded severe drought. In a nutshell, Kadiri and most parts of Anantapur have for all practical purposes, dried up. But this is not a story about drought leading to agrarian distress and farmer suicides. This is a story about the children or orphans of drought, a huge humanitarian & health crisis arising out of large-scale migrations, making hunger a constant in these parts. The show documents the lives of children in the dust bowl of Kadiri who are forced to be an adult even before they hit their teens, while their parents are forced to migrate to cities in search of a livelihood.
