The shocking data was reported by the Centre for Monitoring Indian Economy (CMIE), a private research firm in Mumbai.</p><p style="text-align:justify">Between 2017 and 2022, about 2 crore women disappeared from the workforce, leaving only 9% of the eligible population employed or looking for positions, Bloomberg reported mentioning the CMIE data. In the same period, the overall labour rate dropped from 46% to 40%.</p><p style="text-align:justify">The figures come at a time when India is betting on its young labour force, which is increasingly getting frustrated due to the lack of opportunities.                             <p style="text-align:justify">-Newsclick.in</p><p style="text-align:justify"><em>More than 50% of Indians of legal working age don&rsquo;t want a job due to the lack of suitable employment: CMIE</em></p><p style="text-align:justify">More than 50% of the 90 crore Indians of legal working age, particularly women, don&rsquo;t want a job due to increasing frustration of not finding the right kind of employment. The shocking data was reported by the Centre for Monitoring Indian Economy (CMIE), a private research firm in Mumbai.</p><p style="text-align:justify">Between 2017 and 2022, about 2 crore women disappeared from the workforce, leaving only 9% of the eligible population employed or looking for positions, Bloomberg reported mentioning the CMIE data. In the same period, the overall labour rate dropped from 46% to 40%.</p><p style="text-align:justify">The figures come at a time when India is betting on its young labour force, which is increasingly getting frustrated due to the lack of opportunities. Though earlier CMIE data showed that the unemployment rate had dipped to 7.6% in March from 8.10% in February, considering the massive numbers of Indians of legal working age, the percentage is very high.</p><p style="text-align:justify">Haryana had recorded the highest unemployment rate in March at 26.7%, followed by Rajasthan and Jammu and Kashmir at 25% each, Bihar at 14.4%, Tripura at 14.1% and West Bengal at 5.6%.</p><p style="text-align:justify">Please <a href="https://www.newsclick.in/2-crore-women-india-quit-workforce-2017-22" title="https://www.newsclick.in/2-crore-women-india-quit-workforce-2017-22">click here</a> to read more.&nbsp;</p>

                            <p style="text-align:justify">-Newsclick.in</p><p style="text-align:justify"><em>More than 50% of Indians of legal working age don&rsquo;t want a job due to the lack of suitable employment: CMIE</em></p><p style="text-align:justify">More than 50% of the 90 crore Indians of legal working age, particularly women, don&rsquo;t want a job due to increasing frustration of not finding the right kind of employment. The shocking data was reported by the Centre for Monitoring Indian Economy (CMIE), a private research firm in Mumbai.</p><p style="text-align:justify">Between 2017 and 2022, about 2 crore women disappeared from the workforce, leaving only 9% of the eligible population employed or looking for positions, Bloomberg reported mentioning the CMIE data. In the same period, the overall labour rate dropped from 46% to 40%.</p><p style="text-align:justify">The figures come at a time when India is betting on its young labour force, which is increasingly getting frustrated due to the lack of opportunities. Though earlier CMIE data showed that the unemployment rate had dipped to 7.6% in March from 8.10% in February, considering the massive numbers of Indians of legal working age, the percentage is very high.</p><p style="text-align:justify">Haryana had recorded the highest unemployment rate in March at 26.7%, followed by Rajasthan and Jammu and Kashmir at 25% each, Bihar at 14.4%, Tripura at 14.1% and West Bengal at 5.6%.</p><p style="text-align:justify">Please <a href="https://www.newsclick.in/2-crore-women-india-quit-workforce-2017-22" title="https://www.newsclick.in/2-crore-women-india-quit-workforce-2017-22">click here</a> to read more.&nbsp;</p>

2 Crore Women in India Quit Workforce in 2017-22

-Newsclick.in More than 50% of Indians of legal working age don’t want a job due to the lack of suitable employment: CMIE More than 50% of the 90 crore Indians of legal working age, particularly women, don’t want a job due to increasing frustration of not finding the right kind of employment. The shocking data was reported by the Centre for Monitoring Indian Economy (CMIE), a private research firm in Mumbai. Between 2017 and 2022, about 2 crore women disappeared from the workforce, leaving only 9% of the eligible population employed or looking for positions, Bloomberg reported mentioning the CMIE data. In the same period, the overall labour rate dropped from 46% to 40%. The figures come at a time when India is betting on its young labour force, which is increasingly getting frustrated due to the lack of opportunities. Though earlier CMIE data showed that the unemployment rate had dipped to 7.6% in March from 8.10% in February, considering the massive numbers of Indians of legal working age, the percentage is very high. Haryana had recorded the highest unemployment rate in March at 26.7%, followed by Rajasthan and Jammu and Kashmir at 25% each, Bihar at 14.4%, Tripura at 14.1% and West Bengal at 5.6%.
