Also explain to them in no uncertain terms that the displaced persons and their families would be looked after by the Nuclear Power Corporation of India Ltd,&rdquo; PK Iyengar, former chairman of Atomic Energy Commission told DNA.</div><div style="text-align: justify"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify">Iyengar wants the government to declare that all those living within 30 km radius of the plant, who stand to lose their houses and properties, will be relocated and suitably compensated in the eventuality of an accident or disaster.</div><div style="text-align: justify"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify">&ldquo;No one can rule out the possibility of a disaster. What we can do is to give them the necessary confidence and get their trust,&rdquo; he said.</div><div style="text-align: justify"><br /></div>

Also explain to them in no uncertain terms that the displaced persons and their families would be looked after by the Nuclear Power Corporation of India Ltd,&rdquo; PK Iyengar, former chairman of Atomic Energy Commission told DNA.</div><div style="text-align: justify"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify">Iyengar wants the government to declare that all those living within 30 km radius of the plant, who stand to lose their houses and properties, will be relocated and suitably compensated in the eventuality of an accident or disaster.</div><div style="text-align: justify"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify">&ldquo;No one can rule out the possibility of a disaster. What we can do is to give them the necessary confidence and get their trust,&rdquo; he said.</div><div style="text-align: justify"><br /></div>

Also explain to them in no uncertain terms that the displaced persons and their families would be looked after by the Nuclear Power Corporation of India Ltd,&rdquo; PK Iyengar, former chairman of Atomic Energy Commission told DNA.</div><div style="text-align: justify"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify">Iyengar wants the government to declare that all those living within 30 km radius of the plant, who stand to lose their houses and properties, will be relocated and suitably compensated in the eventuality of an accident or disaster.</div><div style="text-align: justify"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify">&ldquo;No one can rule out the possibility of a disaster. What we can do is to give them the necessary confidence and get their trust,&rdquo; he said.</div><div style="text-align: justify"><br /></div>

Ex-AEC chief PK Iyengar backs Kudankulam plant

A day after rocket scientist APJ Abdul Kalam backed the Kudankulam N-power plant, another top scientist has come out in its support.

“Tell them bluntly that there is nothing to be worried of and their interests would be protected by the government. Also explain to them in no uncertain terms that the displaced persons and their families would be looked after by the Nuclear Power Corporation of India Ltd,” PK Iyengar, former chairman of Atomic Energy Commission told DNA.

Iyengar wants the government to declare that all those living within 30 km radius of the plant, who stand to lose their houses and properties, will be relocated and suitably compensated in the eventuality of an accident or disaster.

“No one can rule out the possibility of a disaster. What we can do is to give them the necessary confidence and get their trust,” he said.
