The companies were manufacturing formaldehyde without environmental clearance (EC) and requisite safeguards.</p><p style="text-align:justify">Out of the 15 industrial units, 10 are located in Yamuna Nagar district, two in Jhajjar, two in Karnal and one in Ambala.</p><p style="text-align:justify">These water-guzzling units pollute the groundwater and air significantly, the order cited data mentioned in an earlier NGT order.                             <p style="text-align:justify">-Down to Earth</p><p style="text-align:justify"><em>Experts express concern, point at state pollution control board for poor implementation</em></p><p style="text-align:justify">The National Green Tribunal (NGT) January 18, 2021 ordered 15 chemical industrial units in Haryana to remain shut for flouting green norms. The companies were manufacturing formaldehyde without environmental clearance (EC) and requisite safeguards.</p><p style="text-align:justify">Out of the 15 industrial units, 10 are located in Yamuna Nagar district, two in Jhajjar, two in Karnal and one in Ambala.</p><p style="text-align:justify">These water-guzzling units pollute the groundwater and air significantly, the order cited data mentioned in an earlier NGT order.                             <p style="text-align:justify">-Down to Earth</p><p style="text-align:justify"><em>Experts express concern, point at state pollution control board for poor implementation</em></p><p style="text-align:justify">The National Green Tribunal (NGT) January 18, 2021 ordered 15 chemical industrial units in Haryana to remain shut for flouting green norms. The companies were manufacturing formaldehyde without environmental clearance (EC) and requisite safeguards.</p><p style="text-align:justify">Out of the 15 industrial units, 10 are located in Yamuna Nagar district, two in Jhajjar, two in Karnal and one in Ambala.</p><p style="text-align:justify">These water-guzzling units pollute the groundwater and air significantly, the order cited data mentioned in an earlier NGT order. NGT orders shut 15 chemical industrial units in Haryana for flouting norms -Divyansh Upadhyay

-Down to Earth Experts express concern, point at state pollution control board for poor implementation The National Green Tribunal (NGT) January 18, 2021 ordered 15 chemical industrial units in Haryana to remain shut for flouting green norms. The companies were manufacturing formaldehyde without environmental clearance (EC) and requisite safeguards. Out of the 15 industrial units, 10 are located in Yamuna Nagar district, two in Jhajjar, two in Karnal and one in Ambala. These water-guzzling units pollute the groundwater and air significantly, the order cited data mentioned in an earlier NGT order. They also pose serious health hazards. A Joint Committee of the central and state pollution control boards set up on the direction of the tribunal observed the discrepancy in its report filed August 25, 2021.  The order of Dastak NGO Vs Synochem Organics Pvt Ltd & Ors dated December 9, 2020 said:  There is no mechanism to check leaching of methanol from underground tanks, this is one of the causes of cancer and according to statistics, 39 per cent of national deaths from cancer are taking place in the state of Haryana In this order, the tribunal had made EC mandatory for operating such industrial units.  Please click here to read more.
