While 823 cases of other crimes against the people belonging to the SCs and STs were reported in 2009, other crimes jumped to 1,002 in 2010 in the State.

The report pointed out that there was a steep increase in the cases booked under the PCR Act in 2010 when 34 cases were registered as against 10 in 2009.

Under the SCs and STs Prevention of Atrocities Act, 1,244 cases were booked in 2009 while in 2010, the number went up to 1,460.

Under the PCR and the SCs and STs Prevention of Atrocities Act, 89 cases were registered in Gulbarga district followed by 82 cases in Bangalore. As many as 83 cases under the SCs and STs Prevention of Atrocities Act were registered in Mandya during 2010 as against 38 during 2009. In Belgaum, 76 cases were registered in 2010.

However, there was a sharp drop in the cases of murder of people belonging to the SCs, STs in 2010 in comparison to that in 2009.
