RAIPUR:
With an aim to provide iron-free drinkable water to natives of Bastar region and provide additional employment scope for women and potters, Chhattisgarh Council of Science and Technology (CGCOST) conducted training for 80 women of self-help groups and potters of Jagdalpur, Narayanpur and Dantewada region to make low cost water-filters.

This water filter is an innovative design of Pune-based Tata Consultancy Services developed at Wardha based Center of Science for villages.

CGCOST officials said the innovative idea of low-cost filter is provided through these women self-help groups and potters, who would be selling it to residents. They also distributed samples free of cost to families residing in villages, schools, official departments and several other places for trial.

This 15 litre capacity water filter costs around Rs 550. The water was tested and found iron and germs free by Dantewada district's public health engineering department.
